I recently had the chance to visit the Auburn State Theatre and see the progress being made on its repairs and restoration.

Thank you to Colleen Sands for the invitation and for the opportunity to hear firsthand updates from her, fellow board members, and members of the community about the work underway. It was great to see the progress that's been made and the dedication to preserving one of Auburn's historic landmarks.

The Auburn State Theatre has long been an important part of the community, and I look forward to seeing it reopen and continue serving residents and visitors for many years to come.

Had the opportunity to meet with Roseville's new Police Chief, Jeff Beigh, and congratulate him on his appointment.

Chief Beigh has dedicated nearly 20 years to serving the Roseville community, and it was great to sit down with him to talk about public safety, the department's continued commitment to our community, and some of the opportunities and challenges ahead.

I appreciate his willingness to serve in this new leadership role and look forward to working together in the future. Wishing Chief Beigh all the best as he leads the Roseville Police Department.

Congratulations to Ikeda's on being named the #1 Pie Shop in America by USA Today 10Best!

I had the chance to stop by and present the team with a California State Assembly certificate recognizing this well-deserved honor. Since 1950, Ikeda's has been a Placer County favorite, serving up incredible pies, fresh produce, and quality that's kept generations coming back.

It was especially great talking with Brendyn Ikeda and hearing about the three generations of the Ikeda family who have helped build and grow this local tradition.

Congratulations on this amazing national recognition, and thank you for more than 70 years of serving our community!

This week I had the opportunity to visit E.V. Cain School in Auburn and check out its brand-new playground!

A while back, my office learned that the Auburn Union School District had run into delays at the state level that were holding up the project. We were glad to step in, help navigate the process, and get things moving again. It was great to see the playground now finished and in use.

Helping our communities cut through red tape and working with state agencies to solve problems will always be one of my priorities.

Today I toured the new Placer County Sheriff’s Training Academy in Auburn and was impressed by this local investment in public safety.

The academy transformed a former elementary school into a modern training facility through a great partnership with the Auburn School District and Sierra College, repurposing unused space and materials.

With realistic scenario-based training rooms and dedicated defensive tactics space, deputies can prepare for real-world situations in ways that improve safety for both officers and the people they serve.

Thank you to Sheriff Wayne Woo and the entire Placer County Sheriff’s Office for your commitment to excellence and ensuring our deputies have the training they need to keep Placer County safe.

Today, as we celebrate Independence Day, I want to wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday. This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate America's 250th birthday. It's a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the values of freedom, democracy, and opportunity that have shaped our nation, while honoring the men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect those ideals.

I hope you enjoy a wonderful day with family, friends, and your community as we celebrate this historic milestone. Happy Fourth of July!

Happy to author this legislation to help
Make utility-caused wildfires whole.

—————————-

Assemblymember Joe Patterson, R-Rocklin, said monetary restitution could never make up for the suffering wildfire survivors have endured. Patterson is sponsoring the bill after the election of its author, James Gallagher, to Congress.

“They’ve lost homes, property, and even their loved ones, and no amount of money will ever fix that,” said Patterson during his testimony. “However, restitution is able to help victims to begin rebuilding their lives.”

According to Patterson, some wildfire victims have waited over a decade to receive restitution, and likely will not receive all they were promised. He said delayed and incomplete restitution bars families from moving forward.

Wildfire survivors from Paradise and other wildfires are seeking fuller restitution for utility-caused fire losses.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Thank you to the many cities, towns, and communities throughout our district that are taking the time today to recognize their courage and dedication. Their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms we enjoy, and we remain forever grateful for their service and commitment to protecting our nation.
