Last month, the Kentucky Concrete Association hosted a Lunch-and-Learn at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for the airport’s Planning and Design team. Harold Honey, Chief Engineer for ACPA, provided more than 20 airport staff members with an introduction to airfield pavement design principles for planners, along with an overview of quality control and quality assurance requirements associated with the FAA P-501 airfield concrete specification. Following the presentation, Harold and the KCA team joined airport staff for an airfield tour, providing an opportunity to view ongoing construction as well as several recently completed concrete pavement projects. The event offered airport staff a valuable combination of technical education and firsthand insight into the design, construction, and quality considerations associated with concrete airfield pavement.
