Labor Day is more than the unofficial end of summer.

It honors generations of workers who came together to improve wages, workplace safety, and working conditions. Their efforts helped shape many of the protections and opportunities we benefit from today.

Progress is earned through advocacy, organizing, and voting. Labor Day celebrates the workers who did all three.

As we enjoy the holiday, let's also recognize the people whose dedication and civic engagement helped build a stronger nation for all.

Happy Labor Day!

On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified after generations of women marched, lobbied, and refused to quit. This was a milestone, not a finish line: Native, Asian, Latina, and many African American women wouldn't gain full access to the ballot until years later. The League of Women Voters was founded six months before ratification. We honor all who fought then and all who carry that fight now.

✅ Take action and join the League to continue to fight for voting rights and democracy!
