After carefully reviewing the latest weather forecast and consulting with our public safety officials, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight's French Market and Plaza Concert Series. Safety is our highest priority when making decisions about outdoor events, and unfortunately the strong potential of severe weather, including lightning and damaging winds, later this afternoon creates significant safety concerns.

We appreciate your understanding. The June 11 concert has been rescheduled for September 10. Save the date for the next concert on June 25 with the Roselle Park District! You can visit the The French Market in Roselle every Thursday through September 10. Visit www.roselle.il.us/Events for event details.

The Village’s new lightning detection system, located on the roof of the Roselle Police Department, is active every day from 7:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. to help warn anyone outdoors in downtown Roselle when severe weather is nearby. ⚡

When a lightning strike is detected within 5 miles of Petal Plaza, the lightning detection system sounds an alarm and horn and flashes a strobe light in two, 20-second bursts. Anyone outdoors when the alert is activated must seek shelter immediately for their safety until the all-clear alert sounds in three, five-second bursts.

During downtown Roselle special events, the lightning alert will trigger the evacuation of the area for a minimum of a 30-minute waiting period. Attendees must seek shelter indoors or in their cars, and any vendors must pause sales. Any additional lightning strikes will trigger a fresh 30-minute waiting period to ensure the area is safe. Event attendees and vendors can check the Perry Weather tracker at www.roselle.il.us/Events to see how much time remains until the all-clear alert sounds.

We encourage all residents to sign up for Nixle, the Police Department's messaging system, to get alerts about severe weather or other important community-wide updates. Simply text 60172 to 888777 to opt-in or sign-up at www.nixle.com
