We are SO proud of our 6th grade Academically Speaking teams!
Today, 12 JV teams from Roseland, Livingston, Verona, Fairfield, Bloomfield, West Orange, Belleville, and Lacordaire Academy competed in the Essex County Gifted & Talented Committee’s Academically Speaking competition at West Essex Middle School. Academically Speaking is a fast-paced academic competition where teams compete in 4 rounds, and teams are eliminated after a loss.
Both Roseland teams had an incredible start, winning their first matches and advancing to Round 2! Roseland A continued their amazing run and advanced to the semi-finals, while Roseland B fought hard before being eliminated in their second match.
The semi-final match between Roseland A and Livingston A was INTENSE! The score was tied through the first two rounds, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. Our students stayed focused, worked together beautifully, and pulled ahead for an exciting victory to earn a spot in the finals!
In the championship match against Livingston B, Roseland A played another outstanding game and finished as the tournament runner-up, bringing home an amazing 2nd Place trophy for Roseland! They represented Roseland with pride, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
We are also proud to share that the Varsity division (grades 7–8) West Essex team earned 2nd place as well, and many former Roseland students were part of that team!
Congratulations to all of our students on a fantastic day. Your hard work truly paid off, and we could not be prouder.
