🐦 Experience Roseburg’s Fall Swift Watch!

Roseburg Parks and Recreation and the Umpqua Bird Alliance invite the community to two evenings of birdwatching, education and music during the Umpqua Valley Migratory Bird Celebration.

Watch for migrating Vaux’s Swifts as they gather near sunset and spiral into the Clay Place chimney to roost for the night!

Fridays, Sept. 18 and 25
6:30 p.m. to sunset
Clay Place chimney in Fir Grove Park, behind the Umpqua Valley Arts Center at 1624 W. Harvard Ave.
Free and family-friendly

Special guests and activities include:

Federal and state agencies
Two rescued Cedar Waxwing ambassador birds
Americana music from the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association, weather permitting
Interpretive naturalists from the Umpqua Bird Alliance

Bring blankets or chairs for seating on the grass, along with snacks if you’d like. Alcohol is not allowed.

Because the swifts are wild, their appearance and numbers cannot be guaranteed. The events are weather dependent and will be canceled if the Air Quality Index exceeds 150.

⭐️ Labor Day closure — Monday, Sept. 7

City of Roseburg buildings including City Hall, the Public Safety Center, and Roseburg Public Library will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day. Police officers and firefighters will continue providing public safety services throughout the holiday.

Roseburg parks, Fir Grove Park Splash Pad and Stewart Park Golf Course will remain open. The splash pad will operate from 10 a.m. to dusk for its final day of the season.

Regular City business hours will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Roseburg’s splash pad is open daily from 10 a.m. to dusk through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7. A great way for people of all ages a fun way to stay active and beat the late-summer heat.

The best part: Its Free!

📍 Fir Grove Park, behind the Umpqua Valley Arts Center at 1624 W. Harvard Ave.

Shade is limited, so remember to bring water, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.

Join us for the FINAL Zumba in the Park of 2026 TONIGHT!

That's right, there is just one more opportunity to participate in this fun, high energy dance fitness class, taught by the Roseburg YMCA in Stewart Park this summer.

Bring water, your dance moves and a friend to the lawn, just west of the large pavilion. This FREE class begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Meet up for Yoga in the Park in Stewart Park Saturday mornings just east of the Half Shell. Each week, starting at 10:00 am, a local instructor, sourced from Body Balance Yoga Center, will lead you through different poses, focusing on balance and flexibility, while enjoying the park. All participants who sign in will be entered into a drawing to win prizes, courtesy of Thrive Umpqua and Body Balance Yoga Center.
