Tasha's House

Tasha's House Tasha's House supports, educates, and empowers Douglas County's LGBTQIA+ youth and community. Tasha’s House is named after Tasha Oliverson.
(1)

Tasha’s House supports the LGBTQIA+ community of Douglas County by providing a drop-in youth center, a meeting space for community groups, a clothing exchange closet with gender-affirming items, and a temporary shelter for unhoused youth. Tasha was a member of Roseburg’s LGBTQIA+ community and championed local activism for LGBTQIA+ rights and other marginalized groups such as women and people of c

olor. She was a founding board member of PFLAG Roseburg and served as the Secretary. Tasha was also a member and president of the Queer Students Advocacy (QSA) group at Umpqua Community College (UCC). As a student in the Social Services program at UCC, she focused on using her degree to serve the Douglas County community. Tasha and the founding Board Members of Tasha’s House had several conversations concerning the need for an LGBTQIA+ based resource center locally, and during those conversations, she would regularly say, “If I could, I would just take them all to my house!”

Unfortunately, Tasha tragically lost her life due to contracting an infection that turned septic and attacked her vital organs. The naming of Tasha’s House is an effort to honor and remember this truly extraordinary individual.

🌟 A Partnership That Puts Youth First 🌟

Tasha’s House and the Douglas County Department of Human Services are proud to partner in supporting foster parents and LGBTQIA2S+ youth—because every young person deserves a safe, affirming place to be themselves.

The Ford Family Foundation’s newly released 2025 By the Numbers report shows why this work matters so deeply:
• Food insecurity: 15.4% in Douglas County (statewide average: 13.1%)
• Child poverty: 21% (statewide average: 13.6%)
• Foster care rate: 9.2% (statewide average: 5.6%)

These numbers tell the story of why we must create spaces where foster youth—especially LGBTQIA2S+ youth—feel valued, supported, and celebrated.

💛 Together, we’re building more than a free boutique. We’re creating a community of care where every child can truly be who they are.
