The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the graduation of Deputy Joseph Shelton and Deputy Jacob Fricke from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Basic Corrections Academy.
Over the course of the academy, both deputies completed classroom and hands-on training in corrections operation, custody supervision, legal studies, report writing, defensive tactics, emergency response, ethics and professional standards.
We are especially proud to recognize their outstanding achievements.
Deputy Fricke received the Dr. Ernest M. Ogard Jr. Academic Achievement Award, recognizing his exceptional academic performance in the class.
Deputy Shelton was honored with the prestigious Victor G. Atiyeh Award, one of the Academy's highest distinctions, presented to a graduate who exemplifies leadership, character, professionalism, and dedication.
These honors are a testament to the caliber of individuals serving our community and the bright future they have ahead at DCSO.
