Hello friends! Anyone local missing or recognize this sweet girl? She has been hanging out under the deck for a few days, she’s skittish so we have not been able to see if there are any identifiers on her collar. Would love to get her home safely . Please share if you’re local. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Just another reminder that there WILL NOT be an Old School Sorghum Festival this coming weekend or in the future. Our family made the difficult decision that we would no longer be hosting the festival, after 25 years it was time to step away from the event. We appreciate your support over the years and are grateful for the good times and friendships made over the years.

It is with deep gratitude and affection for our Old School At McDaniel Crossroads community that The Old School Sorghum Festival founders and team member announce that we have decided that our journey as festival hosts and producers has come to an end. We will no longer be putting on The Old School Sorghum Festival each October or hosting our occasional Old School Vintage Marketplace sales events.

The Old School Sorghum Festival has been held annually since 1998, the creation of our founders, Johnny and Annie Matthews. Our family has been blessed to have been called to be part of their Old School team and to have been led by them as the festival grew over the years. We have learned much from them about leadership, teamwork, commitment to a dream that benefits the community, hardwork and perseverance and generosity and the need to honor and share traditions. We are so very grateful for them and the core memories we all carry with us of time spent preparing for this event as a family!

Though we will not be hosting the Old School Sorghum Festival this October, or in years to come, we are forever thankful and blessed by the family members and friends, who are like family, who have faithfully pitched in each year to lend us a hand in this endeavor. Our deepest thanks to each of you for your continued support, we couldn’t have done it without you.

We have been blessed over the years by amazing OSSF friends, those who have participated as vendors, exhibitors, teachers of old ways, performers and helpers. We are so thankful for your contributions that made the Sorghum Festivals such an enjoyable and educational day for others who have attended over the years. We are also grateful for the support of the local media and other organizations who have promoted and supported us each year.

Finally, a huge thank you to all of you who have joined us on the third Saturday of October for this day that has meant so much to our family. We hope that your time at the Old School brought you as much joy and as many happy memories as you have given us over the past 25 years. We appreciate you all so very much.

If you wouldn’t mind helping us out one more time by sharing this post to help us get the word out about this news, we would so appreciate it.

Good morning Old School friends! It is crunch day at The Old School at Mcdaniel Crossroads! We have lots of last minute items on our To Do list today as we finish preparations for the 25th Anniversary edition of The Old School Sorghum Festival! 25 years y’all! What a blessing to have been able to do this as a family for all these years. Thank you for your support.

We will be working up an appetite tomorrow and are looking forward to tasty some delicious food on Saturday! We are thrilled to have the good folks from Serenity Church back with us this year serving bbq and hot dogs. Our favorite funnel cake folks are back again as well. We are thrilled to have two new food vendors join us this year, be on the lookout for the colorful ForksN’Motion truck and the cute little yellow donut and slushie trailer, Poppy’s Cake Donuts and Ava’s Slushie’s. Also joining us this year is, Give Me S’more, a s’more vendor. There will also be a good number of other bake sale type booths.

You also won’t want to miss Sorghum Festival favorites, our signature sorghum cookies and Miss Annie’s fudge available next to the Sorghum Booth and in the Country Store, along with cold drinks. And also new this year, the third generation of Matthewses will be serving freshly popped popcorn, cold drinks and other goodies by the Sorghum Booth! Come support these cuties!

We can’t wait to see you all on Saturday! We will be open from 9-4, that’s plenty of time to sample all these delicious festival foods AND walk off those calories as you take in all that’s to be seen at The Old The Old School Sorghum Festival! Please bring cash to support our vendors, the cell service in the schoolyard is spotty for some carriers making electronic sales difficult at best.

We’ve made wonderful memories at the Sorghum Festival and we sincerely hope that you and your family have wonderful memories from attending as well.
