Camping Permits - Ordinance ###V

Just a reminder that Camping Permits are required for any residential or commercial zoned properties in Gerrish Township according to Gerrish Township Camping Ordinance ###V.
Permits are $2.00 each and are available at the Gerrish Township Police Department Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. You can request a permit by e-mail by contacting Julie at [email protected] or by phone at (989) 821-5207 Ext. 291. We now can accept debit/credit card payments.

Looking for a way to get involved in our community? 🌳
The Gerrish Township Parks & Recreation Committee is looking for one more volunteer to join our group!
What we do:
• Meet once a month (May–October) at the Township Office
• Share ideas and give input on park improvements and projects
• Make recommendations to the Township Board
• Occasionally help out with hands-on park projects
You must be a Gerrish Township property owner (you don’t have to live here full-time).
It’s a great way to help keep our parks looking their best and be part of any improvements!

Gerrish Township General Offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day 2026, Monday May 25, 2026. Gerrish Township Police/Fire/EMS can be contacted for non-emergencies at 989-275-0911 or in emergencies, 911. We will re-open on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 for regular business hours at 8:00 a.m.

Good morning,
Gerrish Township will have survey teams from the Department of Homeland Security/MSP, FEMA and the Small Business Association in the Township today 5/19/26 coming to residential areas to make contact with homeowners regarding any damage you may have received due to the recent flooding. They are well credentialed and trained and they will not go in your home. They have a few short questions about how the flooding may have affected you and your residence. This is a necessary process for our local Emergency Management, State and Federal Officials to see if the financial threshold exists to get Federal Declaration financial access. Most of the areas already located by local teams or self reporting to Roscommon County EMD will be re-visited by this group and in Gerrish Township specifically includes areas on the East shore of Higgins Lake and the Cut River area from Co Rd 100 West to the Lake shore. Please know that this is a legitimate activity for the benefit of our community.
Public infrastructure damage will be surveyed at a later date per the meeting with the group this morning.

GFL is unable to pick up the yard waste today 5/15/26. They will be out tomorrow, 5/16/26 to pick up the yard waste material that was scheduled for today. Please share to help get the word out. Thank you!

Gerrish Township is accepting applications for the position of a Board Member on the Gerrish Township Planning Commission. The position is a Township Board appointed position for a 3-year term. The position becomes available on 7/1/26 when the exiting member fulfills the term. Applications for the position can be obtained at the Gerrish Township Hall in the Township Clerk's office. The application opening begins immediately Thursday, May 14, 2026, and applications will be taken until Friday June 5th at 4:00 p.m.

All four pickleball courts are now available for use for the public enjoyment. The courts were 8 to 10 inches underwater a few short weeks ago.
