Just one week away is the 70th anniversary party of Edinburg Township Fire and the drawing to win a 4 wheeler. Lots of fun things planned including a dunk tank with WNIR’s Couch Burner at noon, University Medevac landing at 2pm, Portage County Sheriff K9 demo at 3pm. Games for the kids and free food thanks to some very supportive local businesses. We will also have 11 other agencies present including, Portage County Sheriff, Ohio Highway Patrol, Ohio Watercraft, Portage County Dog Warden, Portage County EMA, Robinson Memorial Hospital, Akron City Hospital, Portage County Safe Communities, University Medevac, Portage Prepares and West Branch State Park. Hope to see you between noon and 4pm at the Edinburg Park on Rocksprings Rd.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families of yesterday’s Oklahoma tornados. Please don’t forget about our brother and sister first responders that they have the strength to deal with this disaster, as many of their family members and friends are also victims.

Edinburg Township Fire was recently awarded a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant from FEMA in the amount of $27,444 dollars. This grant money is for our smoke detector and home safety education program. Township residents please watch for more program details shortly.

Pavers are being sold by the Edinburg Firefighters Association for only $15.00. Order yours soon so that it can be installed by the Memorial Day dedication as part of Edinburg's Memorial Day Parade and cemetery service. Order forms are available at the Fire Station (6727 Tallmadge Rd).

We would like to Thank Wayne Homes for letting us use their old model home for training prior to them tearing it down, there is nothing like real hands on training for our firefighters. Would also like to thank Summa Akron City Hospital for conducting the EMS portion of the training and thank you to Atwater and Randolph Fire for participating in the training drills ! !
