🚒 Company Inspections in the Community

Today, Rootstown Fire Department C Shift is out completing company inspections at Subway/Romeo’s Pizza, Dollar General, and Circle K.

These walkthroughs give our members the opportunity to become familiar with each building’s layout, access points, fire protection systems, and potential hazards before an emergency occurs. Knowing the building before the call comes in helps our crews respond more safely and efficiently when every second counts.

Throughout the year, Rootstown Fire Department completes inspections of approximately 200 buildings, with our six certified Fire Inspectors working to help keep our businesses, residents, and community safe.

Preparation before the emergency makes a difference during the emergency. 🚒🔥

This Monday, members of the Rootstown Fire Department conducted hose training at Rootstown Middle School lead by Lieutenant Gauer.
Hose training is a critical component of firefighter preparedness. Regular hands-on practice helps firefighters develop and maintain the skills needed to efficiently deploy, advance, and operate hose lines during emergency incidents. These drills improve teamwork, communication, and situational awareness while ensuring that firefighters can quickly and effectively deliver water where it is needed most.
Training in realistic environments allows our personnel to build confidence and proficiency, helping us provide the highest level of service and protection to the Rootstown community.
We would like to thank Rootstown Middle School for allowing us to utilize their facility for this valuable training opportunity.

🚒 Recently, the Rootstown Fire Department was awarded a grant through the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office for 35 new helmets, hoods, and pairs of gloves for our firefighters.

These items are critical in helping keep our members protected while serving our community. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Marshal Reardon and the staff at the Fire Marshal’s Office for providing this grant opportunity and supporting departments across Ohio.

We are grateful for the continued investment in firefighter safety and the protection of our community. 👨‍🚒

🐥🦆 B-Shift had an unexpected rescue today after a group of ducklings became trapped inside a storm drain.

Using patience, teamwork, and a little creativity, crews were able to safely remove the ducklings and reunite them with mom nearby.

Not every rescue involves lights and sirens — sometimes it’s the little things that make a big impact in our community. Great work by B-Shift today! 🚒👏

Today, some of our firefighters had the opportunity to join Deerfield Fire Department along with several surrounding departments for a Water Movement Class hosted by the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association.

This was a great hands-on learning experience for everyone involved. Crews were able to see firsthand what a rural water shuttle operation looks like, along with drafting water directly from a lake into a tanker. 🚒💧

Training like this is invaluable and helps departments work together more efficiently when large-scale incidents happen in our communities. Huge thank you to everyone involved for making it a successful day of learning and teamwork! 👨‍🚒
