The Sachem Central School District Legislative Committee is proud to celebrate the passage of the School Security Guard Training Enhancement Act (A5079E/S194D), legislation that will require specialized school-based training for security guards working in New York’s schools.

This legislation will help ensure that security guards serving in schools receive training specific to working with students, staff, and school communities, further strengthening school safety across New York State.

The legislation has now passed both houses of the New York State Legislature and awaits the Governor’s signature.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for everyone who worked on this effort over the years,” said the Sachem Legislative Committee. “Improving school safety has always been our goal, and we are proud to see an idea that started in Sachem move through the legislative process and reach this important milestone.”

The Sachem Legislative Committee thanks everyone who contributed to this effort and looks forward to seeing the bill signed into law.

🍕❤️ A special tradition came full circle once again. Each year, former Nokomis Elementary teacher Ms. Pritchett treats her past second-grade students to pizza at the end of their senior year, creating a meaningful opportunity to reconnect and reflect on how far they've come.

"It is always a nice reminder to see where our time here in Sachem started and who impacted us," said Sachem North Senior Class President Alyssa Tappin.

From elementary school memories to graduation celebrations, it's a wonderful example of the lasting relationships that make the Sachem community so special. 🏹

Congrats to our latest Sachem Hall of Honor inductees! They will be recognized on Saturday, June 6! Come down to be part of the recognition. 🏹

Celebrate the induction of the Sachem Hall of Honor Class of 2026 during a special ceremony on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at Sachem High School North. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

This year’s Hall of Honor class represents more than five decades of graduates and includes distinguished leaders in business, education, government, journalism, healthcare, the military, public service, law enforcement and the arts.

For three decades, Scott Dohrman has been a constant presence on the fields, courts and sidelines in Sachem, shaping the lives of generations of student-athletes through his dedication, leadership and unwavering commitment to education and athletics.

Now, after 30 years of teaching and coaching, Dohrman is retiring, bringing to a close an extraordinary career that included 102 seasons of coaching across girls soccer, boys basketball, girls basketball and softball.

Congratulations to Andrew Laux, whose artwork was selected for display at the East End High School Pop-Up Exhibition at Suffolk Community College in Riverhead!

Andrew attended the exhibition and saw his work showcased alongside talented student artists from across the region. His mixed-media painting and photography piece, Triplicity, captured visitors' attention and earned praise from professors in the college's Media Arts Department.

We are incredibly proud of Andrew's artistic achievements and the creativity, originality, and dedication he brings to his work. 🎨👏
