"The City of Romulus will be conducting a lead service line replacement program during the summer, fall, and winter of 2026.

Approximately 100 residents will receive a letter notifying them that their home has been identified for inspection and potential lead service line replacement between June 2026 and August 2026. The City will mail each resident a notification letter, and the contractor will contact them directly to schedule an appointment.

This work will be provided at no cost to the resident and is funded through EPA grants secured with the assistance of the City's state legislators.

If your property was previously selected for water sampling, the City may continue to use your location for regulatory testing this summer. However, once the lead service line has been replaced, it is unlikely that your property will be selected for future testing unless there is a specific reason to test your water service.

The notification letter from the City will include contact information for the City's engineering consultant, contractor, and City officials. Please stay tuned for additional information regarding this program."

Sincerely,

Roberto Scappaticci
Director of Public Services and Public Works

On this day in 1944, thousands of Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy and changed the course of history. Their bravery, brotherhood, and sacrifice secured freedoms that generations continue to enjoy today.

We honor the heroes who faced impossible odds so the world could have a future.

🚧 Update from MDOT on Restore I-94 Weekend Construction Alert & Upcoming Traffic Changes (6-5-26) 🚧

Motorists should plan for significant traffic impacts along I-94 this weekend and into next year.

πŸ“ This Weekend (June 5-7)

β€’ WB I-94 from Oakwood to Wayne Road will be reduced to one lane from Friday at 8 PM through Monday at 5 AM.

β€’ Beginning Saturday at 5 AM:

The Ecorse Road ramp to EB I-94 will be closed.
The Ecorse Road ramp to WB I-94 will be closed.

β€’ Saturday and Sunday from 5 AM to 7 PM:

The WB I-94 exit ramp to Vining Road and the SB Vining Road entrance ramp to WB I-94 will be closed.
The WB I-94 exit ramp to Wayne Road and the NB Wayne Road entrance ramp to WB I-94 will be closed.

β€’ Saturday from 7 AM to 9 AM:

Motorists should expect intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages on I-94 between Middlebelt and Inkster Roads in both directions.

πŸ“ Beginning Monday, June 8 through Spring 2027

Bridge reconstruction at the Southfield Freeway (M-39) over Ecorse Creek will require:

β€’ Closure of the EB I-94 ramps to both NB and SB M-39/Southfield Freeway.
β€’ Closure of the WB I-94 ramps to both NB and SB M-39/Southfield Freeway.
β€’ Traffic shifts on M-39/Southfield Freeway between I-94 and Outer Drive, with two lanes remaining open in each direction.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, follow posted detours, and expect heavier traffic on both freeways and local roads as motorists adjust to these long-term closures.
