As the 2026 Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office Summer Kids Kamp comes to a close, we want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s camp such a tremendous success!
For three days, we were blessed with perfect weather as 117 campers participated in a variety of activities focused on learning, teamwork, leadership, safety, and fun. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our Sheriff’s Office staff and volunteer team leaders and assistants, who generously gave their time free of charge to invest in the young people of our community.
This year marked a very special milestone—20 years of Kids Kamp! It’s hard to believe two decades have passed since the first campers arrived. Today, we are beginning to see the children of former campers joining us, which speaks volumes about what this program has meant to our community and what we have built together over the years.
A huge thank you goes out to our first responder partners who helped make camp such a memorable experience:
• Romney Volunteer Rescue Squad
• Romney Fire Company
• Hampshire County Emergency Services Agency
• Hampshire County 911 Center
• Maryland State Police Trooper 5
We also want to recognize our incredible cooks, who spent countless hours preparing and serving delicious meals to keep everyone fueled throughout the weekend.
Special thanks to our medical staff, consisting of a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, and EMT, who ensured our campers remained safe and cared for, treating the occasional bumps, bruises, and other camp “boo-boos” that naturally come with a fun-filled adventure.
To those working behind the scenes setting up activities, moving equipment, cleaning, organizing, and tearing everything back down—thank you. Kids Kamp truly takes a village, and your efforts often go unseen but are deeply appreciated.
Most importantly, thank you to our campers. Your outstanding behavior, enthusiasm, positive attitudes, and willingness to try new things are what make this program special year after year.
We are proud of what we accomplished together during our 20th year, and we are already looking forward to marching into Year 21 with all of you next summer.
Until then, have a safe, happy, and wonderful summer!
