The railroad crossing at Reeceburg Road will be closed Thursday June 11, 2026 for emergency repairs beginning at 6 a.m. Work is not expected to be completed for at least 12 hours.

Detours will be set at Old Rockmart Road and Booze Mountain Road. Plan now for delays or alternate routes.

Several incidents of flash flooding were reported in Polk, but Floyd County got none.

We received approximately .75 inches of rainfall at our office over the weekend but some locations in Floyd County reported more than an inch from the weekend rainfall.

The National Weather Service is currently monitoring (2:16 p.m.) a slow-moving rain system that may stall over our area and result in long periods of sustained rainfall.

Please stay alert to driving conditions.

🚧 Sunday May 31: Riders arrive in Floyd County via Pocket Road between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Route follows Everett Springs Rd and Old Dalton Rd to the Armuchee Connector (please be aware of traffic crossing at Ga 156 and Ga 140).

🚧 Monday June 1: Riders depart The Forum at 7 a.m. traveling to Cave Spring via Broad St to Blacks Bluff Rd. Cyclists will loop into Alabama using George Rd and return to Floyd County, using Ga 100, Spout Springs and Mills Rds to end at Rolater Park.
