⭐️ Members of the Roma Police Department SWAT Team recently visited students from DDG Elementary and VME Elementary robotics programs to showcase the department's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robot.

The presentation provided students with a unique opportunity to see a real-life robotic system used in law enforcement operations. SWAT Team members demonstrated the robot's capabilities and explained how it assists the Roma Police Department in handling potentially dangerous situations while helping keep officers and the community safe.

Students were engaged throughout the demonstration and had the chance to learn about the practical applications of robotics in public safety. The visit highlighted the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and showed how technology can be used to serve and protect the community.

The Roma Police Department would like to thank the students, teachers, and staff of DDG Elementary and VME Elementary for their warm welcome. It was a great experience for everyone involved, and we are proud to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

The City of Roma Police Department proudly honors Officer Luis A. Morales as he retires after 20 years of dedicated service to our department and community.

For two decades, Officer Morales served with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Roma. His dedication to duty, strong work ethic, and leadership have earned the respect of his fellow officers and the community he faithfully served.

Today, we thank him for his years of sacrifice, service, and friendship. While we will miss seeing him wear the badge, his legacy and contributions to this department will never be forgotten.

⭐️ Yesterday, the City of Roma Police Department honored Officer Luis A. Morales on his retirement after 20 years of dedicated service to the City of Roma Police Department.

On May 25, 2026, a male individual who had accidentally sustained a gunshot wound to the leg stopped in front of the Roma Police Department seeking immediate assistance.

Roma Police Officers quickly responded, immediately assessed the situation, and rendered lifesaving medical treatment by applying a tourniquet and performing bleeding control measures to stabilize the individual until additional emergency medical personnel arrived on scene. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers also assisted on scene, providing support during the emergency response.

The swift actions, professionalism, and training displayed by all responding personnel were instrumental in providing critical care during this emergency.

The Roma Police Department remains committed to protecting and serving the community, often going beyond traditional law enforcement duties to provide immediate assistance during life-threatening situations.

We also extend our appreciation to the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers for their assistance and partnership during this incident.

The Roma Police Department continues to proudly serve our community with courage, compassion, and professionalism every day.

La Ciudad de Roma recomienda a los residentes reducir el consumo de agua en este momento para evitar que se vacíe el tanque elevado de almacenamiento.

Residents are advised that there is currently a power outage affecting the area from Rio Grande City to Salineño. According to AEP, the estimated time for power restoration is after 11:30 PM.
Crews are aware of the outage and are working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
The City of Roma advises residents to reduce water consumption at this time to help prevent the elevated water storage tank from being depleted.
Please use caution when driving in affected areas and report any emergencies as needed.
