This morning, we had the privilege of visiting Aztecavo in Uruapan, Michoacán, one of Mexico’s leading avocado exporters.

It was an honor to meet Don José Antonio Villaseñor, Founder and Owner of Aztecavo, and learn about the rich history of Michoacán’s avocado industry and the tremendous growth in avocado consumption over the past several decades.

We also had the opportunity to tour their facilities and see firsthand how avocados are carefully selected, packed, and prepared for export to the United States.

We are confident that the Roma Port of Entry can become a valuable gateway for Mexico’s avocado industry by providing an efficient and competitive route into the U.S. market.

Thank you to Don José Antonio Villaseñor and the entire Aztecavo team for the warm welcome and hospitality. We look forward to building a strong partnership.

Another Productive Day Building Strategic Partnerships for Roma

Today, the City of Roma delegation continued its economic development mission by strengthening relationships with organizations and industry leaders that play a vital role in international trade between Mexico and the United States.

Mayor Jaime Escobar Jr., City Manager Alejandro Barrera, Assistant City Manager Alfonso Ramirez Jr., Business Liaison Joel Peña, and Alcalde Baltazar Martínez of Cerralvo, Nuevo León, began the day with a meeting at COFOCE (Coordinadora de Fomento al Comercio Exterior del Estado de Guanajuato). We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Claudia Ramírez and Mr. Luis Gerardo López for their warm hospitality and for the opportunity to present the competitive advantages of the Roma Port of Entry, the Las Américas Industrial Park, and the Secondary Examination Station (SES). We are confident this new partnership with COFOCE will help promote investment, expand international trade, and create new economic opportunities for Guanajuato, Roma, and our entire region.

Our delegation also held a productive virtual meeting with Rogelio Muñoz, CEO of Tracusa, and Diego Troche, to discuss how the Roma Port of Entry can support Tracusa’s logistics network and provide an efficient gateway for freight moving between Mexico and the United States.

In addition, we had the pleasure of meeting with Sergio Ponce López, Executive Director of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce – Guanajuato Chapter. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen commercial ties, promote cross-border investment, and explore future collaboration that will benefit businesses in both Guanajuato and the City of Roma.

Every meeting brings us one step closer to positioning Roma as a strategic gateway for trade and investment, connecting manufacturers, exporters, and logistics providers with new opportunities in the North American market.

Together, we are building partnerships that create jobs, attract investment, and strengthen the economic future of our communities.

Building New Partnerships for Economic Growth

Mayor Jaime Escobar Jr., alongside City Manager Alejandro Barrera, Assistant City Manager Alfonso Ramirez Jr., and Business Liaison Joel Peña had the honor of meeting this morning with Alcaldesa Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos of León, Guanajuato, to discuss the development of a strategic alliance focused on industrial and economic development between our two municipalities.

Joining our delegation was Alcalde Baltazar Martínez of Cerralvo, Nuevo León, who shared his municipality’s commitment to maintaining the security and safety of travelers and commercial traffic along Ruta 54, a key transportation corridor connecting Monterrey and central Mexico to the Roma Port of Entry.

We sincerely thank Alcaldesa Gutiérrez for opening the doors of León and for the opportunity to present the vision and opportunities that the City of Roma has to offer. During our meeting, we highlighted the competitive advantages of the Roma Port of Entry, the Las Américas Industrial Park, and the Secondary Examination Station (SES), while discussing opportunities to strengthen trade, attract new investment, and create strategic logistics partnerships that will benefit businesses on both sides of the border.

This meeting marks the beginning of what we believe will become a strong and lasting partnership between León, Cerralvo, and Roma—one that promotes economic growth, expands international trade, and creates new opportunities for our communities.

Together, we are building bridges that connect people, industries, and opportunities.
