We are in need of someone to do stonework at the Veterans Memorial Park. The person we had to do the work is no longer available. We want to put stone around the 4 corner post of the large pavilion. Would prefer someone who can volunteer their time but will consider all options.

Today was a day of remembrance and honor at the Veterans Memorial Park. It was a day to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to this country. We owe them everything.

This weekend I was able to get the rest of the original plaques on the wall as well as ones that were purchased right before or since the tornado. There are still two spots left for this Wall of Honor. We will soon be putting up three more walls to hold plaques. So if you gave a Veteran that you would like to honor, you can go to our website and download the order form or contact us here and we can make sure you get the form.
Remember tomorrow is Memorial Day and the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ceremony at 10am. Limited seating is available so please bring a seat. Handicap parking is provided along Southview drive as well as across from the park at the pickle ball court.

Just a reminder that as you walk around the Veterans Memorial Park with your pets, it is a city ordnance, as well as the right thing to do, to clean up after your pet. Yes it's a Veterans park but no one wants to have to watch out for doggie landmines.
Bring your own bags or use the ones provided. All of the people who enjoy the park thank you in advance.

For those of you who would like to pick up your plaque, which was made to the wrong size, I will have them at the Memorial Day service on Monday, May 25th. The ceremony starts at 10am. You can pick them up before or right after the ceremony. Maybe this will encourage some of those who have not attended the ceremony before to come check it out. The service will last about an hour. Seating is available but bring a chair just to be safe.

Additional handicap parking is available at the parking lot across from the pentagon and the flags. Also encourage people to leave street parking closest to the park, for those with handicap plates/placards.

Yesterday 14 plaques were replaced on the Wall of Honor. I had my little helper but also a surprise helper. Abbi Chasteen with the Rolla area Chamber of Commerce was out for her morning run and stopped by to see if I could use any help. I gladly took her up on it because the bottom two rows of plaques are difficult for this old guy to do. I would have never gotten that many plaques done without the help. Thanks Abby.

Today we set out the Field of Flags to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom as we prepare for the upcoming Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Each flag serves as a reminder that freedom is never free and represents a hero who will never be forgotten.

Repairs of the tornado damage continues at the park. Thanks to the great team of the Department of Public Works, it is looking like the concrete work will be done in time for the Memorial Day service.
If you are walking around the park while the work is being done, please be careful and avoid the equipment and the marked off areas.
