Today our Fire Department honored the events of 9/11 with two meaningful tributes.

This morning, members stood in front of the trucks and station for a moment of silence, paying respect to the first responders who gave everything on 9/11.

Later, we joined the Rolesville Police Department at Thales Academy for a 9/11 Stair Climb. Members walked the stairs in remembrance of the brave responders who climbed floor after floor to save lives that day.

🕒 Event Schedule
8:46 AM: After a moment of silence marking the exact moment the North Tower was hit, the 5K will begin.
9:03 AM: The 1 Mile Walk for Heroes begins, marking the exact moment the South Tower was hit.

Cost: Completely FREE for all participants.
Requirement: Advance registration is mandatory. No race-day sign-ups.

The Rolesville Fire Department recently recognized retiring member Gary Barnes for an incredible 43 years of dedicated service to our department and community.

Since joining RFD in 1983, Gary has answered countless calls, mentored generations of firefighters, and served in numerous roles, including Assistant Chief of the department. He also served the former Rolesville Rescue Squad as an EMT and a Chief.

We also thank Gary’s wife, Linda, and his family for their support and sacrifice throughout his many years of service.

Gary, thank you for your friendship, leadership, and lifelong commitment to serving others. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement! 🚒👏

The Rolesville Fire Department is deeply saddened by the tragic residential structure fire that occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 5, resulting in the loss of one life.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the victim's family, friends, neighbors, first responders and everyone affected by this tragedy.

We are grateful for the coordinated response of our firefighters and our mutual aid partners, investigators and other agencies who worked under extremely challenging conditions. We are thankful that no other injuries were reported.

Training doesn't always require expensive equipment, it requires creativity.

This week, our members sharpened their vehicle stabilization skills using an innovative homemade training prop. By using stabilization airbags to carefully move a golf ball through a wooden maze, crews practiced the precision, communication, and control required during real-world vehicle stabilization and extrication incidents.

Great work by everyone involved for thinking outside the box and finding new ways to train. Continuous training builds confidence and ensures we're ready when our community needs us most.

Last week's Town Council meeting was a special opportunity to honor the life and legacy of Herbert Holding III.

The Town of Rolesville, NC, alongside the Rolesville Police Department and the Rolesville Fire Department, recognized Herbert's dedicated service through a formal resolution. Mayor Currin read the resolution before presenting it to Mrs. Elen Holding.

We sincerely thank the Mayor, Town Council, and Rolesville Police Department for helping honor one of our own. Herbert's dedication and service helped shape our department and community, and his legacy will never be forgotten. ❤️🚒
