🚨 Incident Response – Technical Rescue 🚨

This afternoon at approximately 3:00 PM, Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 3200 block of South Farm Road 193 for a motor vehicle accident.

LR crews responded and arrived on scene in just two minutes. Upon arrival, firefighters observed a single vehicle off the embankment with a patient still inside. Due to the patient being unable to self-extricate, crews quickly implemented a technical rescue operation.

Fire personnel constructed a twin tension mechanical advantage rope system and were able to safely lower a rescuer down to the patient. The patient was then secured in a rescue harness and carefully hauled to safety using the rope system.

The patient was evaluated on scene by Cox EMS and was later released. The scene was turned over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol until the vehicle could be removed from the water/embankment.

Great work by all responding agencies.

Pre-Planning for the Spring Floods

Last week, our UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) pilots were out on the water, but they weren't in boatsβ€”they were in the air!

Your firefighters are utilizing advanced drone technology to pre-plan our local waterways in anticipation of the spring flood season. This is a game-changer for community safety and a perfect example of how we leverage technology to provide exceptional service.

How it works:
πŸ“ Mapping:Pilots create highly detailed, up-to-date maps of known flood areas.
πŸ“Έ Recording:By flying and recording these river paths now, we establish a "baseline" of the waterway.
🌊 Comparison: During high-water events, our pilots fly the exact same paths. Comparing the two views provides our Swiftwater Rescue Technicians and boat crews with a vital visual of hidden hazards and changing currents in real-time.

By familiarizing ourselves with the waterways before the rain hits, we make future rescues faster, safer, and more efficient. We are committed to using every tool available to stay prepared and keep our community safe!

This past week, your Logan-Rogersville firefighters hosted a Swiftwater Rescue Level 1 & 2 course.

Swiftwater rescue is a physically demanding and high-risk discipline. Training in these live, fast-moving environments is the only way to ensure our rescue swimmers are truly prepared for the challenges of the upcoming rainy season.

This training was a true regional effort, held in partnership with:
🀝 Battlefield Fire Protection District
🀝 Ozark Fire Protection District
🀝 Nixa Fire Protection District
🀝 Willard Fire Protection District

A special thanks to our cadre of instructors representing Logan-Rogersville, Battlefield, and Ozark. Their expertise ensures that these recruits are learning from the best in the field.

Congratulations to all the students who completed the course! Our community is safer because of your dedication and commitment to mastering these lifesaving skills.
