Friday in The Flock

A message from your mayor 5/29/2026. Good afternoon everyone & Happy Friday! 🐦

Well, here we are...the end of May (insert head-spin here). Looking ahead at my June and July schedule, things do not appear to be slowing down either. No complaints — it is just hard to believe how quickly time seems to be passing.

Speaking of things happening quickly, what is that I see in the distance? Why, it's windows...and drywall...and insulation...oh my! Dare we dream of moving into City Hall earlier than mid-November?

Our not-so-special guest(s) this week...a family of skunks decided to drop by and "make a big stink" about all of the construction activity. Our office crew worked with them to "air out" their differences, and I believe an agreement has been reached that satisfies all parties involved. Let's just say a relocation was involved...

It may have been a short week, but it was still a busy one. The Benton County Regional Solid Waste Management District Board met on Tuesday to appoint a new director, and on Wednesday, members of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission Board of Directors met to discuss projects and opportunities impacting our region.

I hope you have had a wonderful week and that your weekend is filled with things that bring a smile to your face. For me, that usually means time with family (especially grandbabies) or time spent woodworking.

I also want to take a moment to say thank you to our residents for making Little Flock such a wonderful place to call home. Strong communities are built by the people who live in them, and I appreciate the kindness, involvement, and community spirit that make our city special. I also want to extend a special thank you to those who have taken the time to visit with me on their front porch or invite me into their homes to talk about the Flock. Those conversations and connections mean a great deal to me and help make our community stronger.

If anyone is interested in donating toward refurnishing City Hall, please contact our Recorder/Treasurer at [email protected].

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Effective Immediately - Bulk Item Pickup from GFL Environmental (formerly LRS)

I am pleased to announce that effective immediately, citizens of Little Flock will now be able to schedule a bulk item pickup, once a month, at no charge. Details are listed below.

This announcement reflects the strong partnership between the City & GFL Environmental as we navigate both our construction efforts and waste service contract renewal. It also enables our citizens to dispose of their bulk items on their schedules, rather than waiting on an annual cleanup event.

Friday in The Flock

A message from your mayor 5/22/2026. Happy Friday everyone! 🐦

Memorial Weekend is a time to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today. Let us never forget that freedom is not free — it often comes at a cost and creates a debt that can never truly be repaid. Whether you're traveling to spend time with family and friends, gathering around the grill at home, or simply taking a little time to rest and recharge, please stay safe and take a moment to remember and honor those who gave everything for our country.

This Memorial Weekend also marks the two-year anniversary of the storms that caused widespread damage across our area and destroyed our City Hall. Thankfully, no lives were lost and there were no major injuries, but that weekend undoubtedly left a lasting mark and serves as a reminder that we are not immune to Mother Nature’s power.

At the same time, it should also remind us of something else: a community coming together when it mattered most. Neighbors helping neighbors, people stepping up to support one another, and countless acts of kindness demonstrated the strength of our community. I remain grateful to live in a place where people genuinely care for one another.

As we head into the holiday weekend, I hope everyone has a safe, meaningful, and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. Thank you for continuing to make Little Flock such a special place to call home.

For anyone else interested in donating toward refurnishing City Hall, please contact our Recorder/Treasurer at [email protected].
