RSD serves the unincorporated communities of Rodeo and Tormey adjacent to San Pablo Bay.

🚽 Do you know what’s safe to flush?

Wipes do not break down like toilet paper and can contribute to clogs, backups and sewer spills. Protect your pipes and Rodeo’s wastewater system by putting all wipes in the trash.

Cooking up something delicious for the Rodeo Chili & Salsa Cook-Off? Remember that fats, oils and grease also known as FOG, do not belong down the drain. FOG can cool and harden inside pipes, contributing to clogs, sewer backups and spills.

Help protect your pipes:
🍳 Allow grease to cool.
🗑️ Scrape it into the trash or a sealed container.
🧻 Wipe greasy pots and pans before washing them.

Visit the Rodeo Sanitary District booth during the Chili & Salsa Cook-Off on Sunday, Sept. 13, to pick up a free FOG scraper and learn more about protecting your pipes.

Rodeo Sanitary District is hiring an Operations Supervisor!

This position will oversee daily operations and maintenance of the treatment plant, pump stations and collection system while supervising staff and supporting regulatory compliance.

Minimum qualifications include a California Grade III Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate and five years of wastewater operations experience, including three years in a supervisory or lead role. A Class B driver’s license will be required within nine months of starting.

If you see water flowing in the street, please note where it is coming from so you can report it to the appropriate agency.

• Storm drain flooding or blockage: Call Contra Costa County Public Works at 925-313-7000.
• Water leaking from a water valve cover: Call East Bay Municipal Utility District at 866-403-2683.
• Water or debris coming from a sewer manhole or rodding inlet: Call Rodeo Sanitary District at 510-799-2970 and press 9.

Sewer emergencies can be reported to RSD 24/7. Reporting a possible spill quickly helps crews respond sooner and reduce potential impacts to the community and environment.

Keeping wipes, foreign objects and fats, oils and grease out of your pipes can also help prevent blockages and sewer spills.

RSD Facility Spotlight: Primary Clarifier

A clarifier is a large settling tank used during wastewater treatment to help separate suspended materials from water.

As wastewater moves through the clarifier, gravity helps heavier materials settle while lighter materials rise, allowing the liquid portion to move to the next stage of treatment.

Each step in the treatment process plays a vital role in protecting public health and the environment.

RSD Sewer Lateral Grant Program

A sewer lateral is the privately owned pipe that connects your home or business to the public sewer system, and property owners are responsible for its maintenance and repair.

RSD offers a grant program that may reimburse eligible property owners for up to $1,500 in qualified sewer lateral replacement costs.
