We are very excited to welcome our summer intern, Braylie Phillips! Braylie is coming to us through the Interns for Impact program offered by the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson and will be with us through July! She attended Rocky Mount High School, has just finished her first year at UNC Chapel Hill where she is pursuing a chemistry degree, and desires to work in research focusing on health disparities. Braylie will be assisting our Director of Health Careers and Workforce Development, Jordan Blake, with various health career exposure initiatives and program development! Welcome, Braylie!

An additional thank you to the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson for making this connection possible! The Interns for Impact initiative connects local college students with non-profit organizations to provide professional development opportunities and meaningful work experiences that focus on social good within the community!

Congratulations to Felissa Wellman, a social worker with Wilson County Schools, who won a ONEBox while attending the Mind & Body: Addressing Adolescent Substance Use and Mental Health Conference earlier this month!

The ONEbox is an emergency opioid overdose reversal kit designed to promote safety by assuring that individuals have life-saving, on-demand training when and where they need it.

When asked about her experience at the program she stated, "This seminar completely changed my view on recovery, instead of just focusing on the behavioral aspect of any addiction. It provided tools to heal the mind and body connection. I left today feeling empowered and with a better understanding on how to assist the students and community I serve."
