No stockings were hung but there were lots of decorations done at Stonewall Manor over the weekend. The Nash Central AP US History, AP Seminar, AP Research and History Honors classes, along with the Rocky Mount Debuettes spent their Saturday morning decorating as if it was the 1840s. Open House will be Wednesday night (12/10) from 6:30-8:00 pm and Sunday (12/14) afternoon from 2:00-4:00 pm. Warm apple cider and cookies will be served. Admission is $7 per person.

Stonewall Manor will have its October Open House this Sunday (10/26) from 2-4. Admission is $7 per adult and $5 per student. If you attend one of our paranormal sessions Saturday night, your admission is free.

It's that time of year where it has cooled down just a little so we are back to having Open Houses at Stonewall Manor. Join us this Sunday (9/28), from 2-4 as we open the house for walk throughs and tours. The cost is $7 per person.

Across North Carolina, communities are preparing to commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence and the founding of the United States. As part of these statewide celebrations, Braswell Memorial Library will host a special program featuring Mark Pace, North Carolina Room Specialist at the Thornton Library in Oxford. Pace will portray John Penn, a native North Carolinian and signer of the Declaration of Independence, bringing history to life as he explores the pivotal events leading to the call for independence and the debates surrounding the Declaration itself. This engaging presentation will take place in the Warner Meeting Room at Braswell Memorial Library on Wednesday, August 27, at 6:00 p.m.

The NCHS APUSH class is finishing up this year's project. They are focusing on the activities associated with the kitchen in the servant's quarters at Stonewall Manor. If you can donate to their project, they would appreciate it.

Sunday's open house was great. We had multiple groups visit who were from all parts of the US. It was also the last open house for our student historic interpreters from Nash Central HS. They have done a great job this year. The best part was witnessing the meeting between the descendent of the enslaved person, Haywood, and the descendant of Bennett Bunn. Robyn Inez Boykin and Gordon Bunn were able to sit down and discuss their family lines.

This Sunday is the last Sunday of the month so it is an Open House at Stonewall Manor. If you're debating what to do on this Memorial Day weekend, come spend it with us at the manor. Tours are given from 2-4. Cost is $7 per person.
