๐Ÿš—โ˜€๏ธ STOP. LOOK. LOCK.

Heatstroke deaths inside vehicles can happen in minutes โ€” even on mild days.

Every time you park:
โœ”๏ธ STOP and check the back seat
โœ”๏ธ LOOK before locking your vehicle
โœ”๏ธ LOCK your doors so children cannot climb inside unattended vehicles

Most tragedies happen when routines change, distractions occur, or a sleeping child is unintentionally forgotten.

Helpful reminders:
๐Ÿงธ Leave a purse, phone, or shoe in the back seat
๐Ÿ“ฑ Ask daycare providers to call if your child is absent
๐Ÿ”‘ Keep vehicles locked at all times

If you see a child alone in a vehicle and believe they may be in danger:
๐Ÿ“ž Call 911 immediately.

Emergency responders would rather respond early than too late.

๐Ÿ’œ World Elder Abuse Awareness Day reminds us that protecting older adults starts with awareness, compassion, and community.

Scammers, abusers, and financial predators often target seniors through:
๐Ÿ“ž Phone scams
๐Ÿ’” Romance scams
๐Ÿ’ต Financial exploitation
๐Ÿ  Isolation and neglect

A simple phone call, visit, or wellness check could make a life-changing difference for someone you love.

The Franklin County Office of the Sheriff encourages our community to:
โœ”๏ธ Check in on elderly neighbors and family members
โœ”๏ธ Watch for unusual financial activity or sudden behavior changes
โœ”๏ธ Be cautious of requests for money, gift cards, or personal information
โœ”๏ธ Report suspected abuse or exploitation immediately

If you believe an older adult may be in danger or being exploited:

๐Ÿ“ž Franklin County Office of the Sheriff Non-Emergency: 540-483-3000
๐Ÿ“ž Adult Protective Services: 888-832-3858

Together, we can help protect the seniors in our community. ๐Ÿ’œ
