Congratulations to The Canes after a well fought playoff run to bring the Stanley Cup back NC after 20yrs!

This is especially special for the coach of the Hurricanes Brind’Amour as he was a Captain of the 2006 Hurricanes Championship Team and had the honor to bring another back as the coach!

I’ve had a busy week, attending The Juneteenth Festival in Wilson, Substation Abuse Coalition meeting and The Cavvietta Rodeo!

I’ve seen the passion the Substance Abuse Coalition has for curing the problem and recognizing you can’t just arrest your way out of the issues.

I definitely enjoyed the Wilson Juneteenth festival this weekend. A great outing for an outstanding historical moment in history.

Also the Rodeo was awesome to attend and if you have the chance while you’re there go visit 3 Belles Bakery best Strawberry Short Cake I’ve had in a while and everything is homemade!

I am deeply saddened for the Nash and Edgecombe communities to learn of the passing of Officer Michael Cotton, who tragically lost his life in an off‑duty ATV accident on June 10th, 2026. Officer Cotton served the Nash and Edgecombe communities with honor for seven years and proudly made history as the first African American K9 handler in the Rocky Mount Police Department.

Officer Cotton’s first K9 partner Forrest recently passed as well, shortly after the death of Officer Cotton which shows the powerful bond a K9 and the handler share.

My deepest condolences go out to his loved ones. I also want to thank the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, and Wilson County Emergency Services for their continued support and professionalism shown to the family during this difficult time. I and the family I’m sure are truly grateful for the outpouring of compassion from the Wilson community.

Officer Cotton and K9 Forrest will never be forgotten.

As my Fire Department and several others worked to bring this fire under control I was devastated to learn that it was the home of Alice and The PurrFect Hearts Cat Rescue. My heart and prayers go out to her and her staff. Please consider helping where needed, with donations and fosters while The PurrFect Heart Cat Rescue recovers from this devastating Fire.

I would like to also give a huge shout out to the men and women of the several Fire Departments, EMS and Wilson 911 who were on scene fighting this blaze and last but not least to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with traffic control while on scene as fire command worked to bring in resources from 2 other counties.

Reid St Community Center: A staple of this place I call home. I actually attended summer camp at this center as a child.

I also attempted swimming lessons at a young age in that pool. (My First Failure in life)

But Let me tell yall, a time was had on Reid St with The Bomb Squad! Awesome event for the community and hope to see it be a reoccurring event!
