DOES A TITLE MAKE A LEADER?

One argument in this election is that Bobby Knight’s opponent is more qualified to be Sheriff because he currently holds the rank of Major.

But a title and leadership are not the same thing.

Bobby Knight has served in more than one law enforcement agency, giving him experience with different organizations, leadership styles, and approaches to policing.

Leadership isn’t simply measured by rank. When the current Sheriff was first elected Sheriff in 2010, he was serving as an SBI agent and had previously worked for the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office as a detective.

A Sheriff doesn’t personally answer every call or investigate every case. The Sheriff leads the organization by building a team, setting direction, and securing the resources employees need to serve the public.

If holding the rank of Major is presented as evidence of leadership experience, voters can also consider the performance of the leadership team that person has been part of.

Bobby Knight’s opponent has stated that he would not change anything. He even went so far as to say that people do not like change.

This election isn’t about who currently holds the highest rank on paper. It’s about who has the vision to move forward, the ability to earn trust, and the kind of leadership people WANT to follow.

That’s Bobby Knight.

As your sheriff I will work to protect all the residents of Wilson County. Protecting residents does not mean an arrest only philosophy. We cannot simply arrest our way out of the issues we currently find ourselves in regarding criminal activity. We must be proactive, not reactive.

Beginning on day one;
- The process of placing current employees in areas to best utilize their strengths.

- An emphasis on career development will be implemented to ensure our employees are properly trained, educated and equipped to provide professional services.

- Partnerships with mental health and substance abuse professionals will be allowed to address issues alongside employees of the sheriff’s office. It should be noted that my opponent in this election whom currently oversees operations of the Detention Center does not allow outside resources to work with offenders in custody.

- Providing alternative measures and treatment has proven to be a factor in reducing recidivism.

- Transparency will become a daily part of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. Press releases will be provided when crimes occur throughout the year and not just during election seasons.

- Social media will be used to get information to all residents.

- Upgrade website to reflect what is happening in Wilson County regarding statistics, trends, community events and how the community can be more involved.

Before any of the above mentioned topics can be addressed, I need your continued support and your vote.

Early voting begins on October 15, 2026. General Election Day is November 3, 2026

Today we pause to remember the lives lost, support the families forever changed, and stand with those still fighting.

Overdose Awareness Day is a reminder that behind every statistic is a person someone’s child, parent, friend, or partner. These losses touch every community, including ours here in Wilson County.

Awareness saves lives. Compassion strengthens recovery. Connection builds hope.
If you or someone you care about is struggling, you’re not alone. Reach out, check in, and keep the conversation going. Small actions make a real difference.

We honor those we’ve lost. We support those who are healing. We commit to a safer, healthier community for everyone.

Since the beginning of my campaign for Sheriff of Wilson County, you have heard me say “The Change We Need.” “Change” isn’t just part of a political slogan; it’s what so many of our neighbors are pleading for.

For more than 45 years, the Sheriff’s Office has been led by essentially the same regime. While my opponent defends the status quo of the office he is currently running, Wilson County is ready for new leadership, fresh ideas, and a new direction that works for everyone, rather than just those in power.

Under the current administration, lack of transparency, little-to-no partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, poor leadership and a failing animal shelter has plagued Wilson County Sheriff’s Office for years, impacting public trust.

As the graphic shows below progress often requires looking outside the current leadership structure and bringing in a fresh perspective. This isn’t about politics, this is about visionary leadership you can trust.

I humbly ask for your vote during early voting and on Election Day.

Together, we can bring Wilson County “The Change We Need.”

God bless you, and God bless Wilson County!

What a full and wonderful weekend!

I started Saturday afternoon at a Back to School event at Lane Street Park, fellowshipping with community members and leaders who came together to give back and support our children as they prepare for a new school year.

Sunday morning began in the best way possible, at church, worshiping and spending time in fellowship.

From there, I had the opportunity to attend two more Back to School events and spend time with students, parents, and families from across Wilson County. Seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces was a great reminder of how important it is to support and encourage our young people.

I finished the day with family, celebrating my niece’s 2nd birthday!

Faith, community, and family. A weekend well spent.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed me and took the time to stop, talk, and fellowship. Weekends like this remind me just how grateful I am to call Wilson County home.

I hope all of our students, teachers, school staff, and parents have a safe and successful school year!

God bless you, and God bless Wilson County!

Parker’s Barbecue is special to me because it was my very first job. Long before my career in law enforcement and long before I ever considered running for Sheriff, I was wearing a white Parkers hat while learning some of my earliest lessons about working hard and serving the fine folks of Wilson County right there in the dining rooms.

That first job taught me the importance of discipline, structure, responsibility, showing up on time, treating people the right way and working as part of a team. Those simple lessons helped build a foundation and work ethic as a young man that I have carried with me throughout my life and career.

For 80 years, Parker’s Barbecue has been more than just a Wilson tradition. It has provided jobs and opportunities to generations of people, served countless families, and become a part of the fabric of our community.

I’m proud to say my working life started at Parker’s, and I’m grateful for the lessons and memories that came with it.

Congratulations to the entire Parker's Barbecue Wilson family on 80 years of service to Wilson County. Here’s to many more!

Over the course of this campaign, with early voting and the November 3rd election approaching, I have received an overwhelming amount of feedback and support from people across Wilson County, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike. For that, I am truly honored and grateful.

What has become obvious to me is that the people of Wilson County want a Sheriff who will provide professional law enforcement services, employ highly qualified and well-trained personnel, address the issues affecting every part of our county, and keep our residents informed about what is happening in the communities we call home.

Although Sheriff is an elected position, public safety isn’t Republican or Democrat. Regardless of political affiliation, I believe we share many of the same goals. We want what is best for our community.

We want safe neighborhoods for our families, safe schools for our children, and safe workplaces for the people who make Wilson County their home. Achieving that takes more than one person or one agency. It takes strong partnerships between law enforcement, businesses, civic organizations, community groups, and most importantly, the residents we serve.

I’m asking for your support because I believe Wilson County deserves professional law enforcement that puts people before politics and service above all else.

Whether you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or simply a Wilson County resident who wants a safer and stronger community, I would be honored to earn your vote on November 3rd and to serve all of Wilson County as your Sheriff.

One county. One community. One Sheriff’s Office serving everyone.

Back To School Bash was a blast! I thoroughly enjoyed investing in the future of our kids.

One of my greatest achievements as Sheriff will be when we are able to place School Resource Officers in all Wilson County Schools!
