The Family Resource Center (FRC) was organized in 1983 by representatives from local human service agencies, local businesses, and concerned community citizens to develop and implement services for victims of domestic violence. In 1989, FRC in conjunction with the Franklin County Board of Supervisors developed the Franklin County Department of Family Resources to provide more extensive services fo
r victims of domestic violence, making FRC one of four domestic violence programs in the state to operate under the auspices of a local government. Currently FRC receives Grant funding from the Virginia Department of Social Services, DCJS as well as funding from the Franklin County Board of Supervisors, and the Town of Rocky Mount. FRC relies heavily on monetary donations and donations of goods and services from local businesses, churches, civic groups, and community citizens. The Friends of the Family Resource Center does fundraising for The Family Resource Center with those proceeds going directly to victims of domestic violence to assist with a variety of issues most victims face such as obtaining birth certificates, photo id's, rental deposits, electric deposits, gas for their vehicles etc.
