Today, Franklin County Fire & EMS stood alongside Blue Ridge Fire & EMS Academy 004 to honor the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. We remember their bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. Their legacy lives on in every firefighter who continues to serve with courage and selflessness.

We will never forget.

We also remember the lives lost on Flights 11, 175, 77, and 93, as well as everyone in both towers. Their stories continue to inspire our service and our resolve.

Do you have a piece of medical equipment at home you no longer use? Or leftover medical supplies? Do you ever think to yourself, “I don’t really need this anymore, but I don’t want to throw this away and let it go to waste!”? If that sounds like you, mark your calendar!

On October 16 and 17, we will be holding a medical equipment drive! We will be collecting gently used, functional, non-porous medical/mobility equipment and medical supplies still sealed in their original packaging to store it until for someone else in the county needs it!

When you bring something in to us, after making sure its still functioning, we will thoroughly disinfect it (our friends at The Emergency Services Program at Radford University Carilion will be out helping us with that), and catalog it. After that, when one of our providers recognize a patient with need, we will be able to deliver these supplies to them and give education about it through our community paramedic program!

There are some examples of equipment on our flyer, but there’s plenty more things we are able to accept! If you have questions, send us a message.

🚑Today, our community paramedic manager, Liz, had the opportunity to shadow Erika, Pulaski County’s community paramedic! 🚑

Liz was able to attend a meeting with a community partner, go on patient visits, and speak with Erika about what their program is able to accomplish in their community. As we work to build up our own community medicine program, visits like this are super helpful and allow us to gain insight and ideas. It takes a village to build programs like these, and being able to share knowledge and ideas with similar programs is a huge part of that!

We are extremely grateful to Erika and Pulaski County Public Safety for allowing Liz to visit and being willing to show her around! 💜

Busy couple of weeks here at Franklin County Fire & Rescue. Our crews trained in swift water rescue, pool emergencies, and Helicopter Emergency Extraction Training (HEAT).

Thank you to the YMCA of Rocky Mount for the use of their pool, Franklin County Parks & Recreation at Waid Park, and especially the crew of Lifeguard 10 for hosting their training event. Your support helps us stay ready to serve our community.
