What a night! We’re throwing it back to the Tar River Chefs Showcase, hosted at Nash Community College. The evening was filled with great food, live entertainment, and community spirit. We were honored to have WRAL's Deborah Morgan as our host, while Wooten ‘Dog’ Lamm kept the crowd energized as auctioneer. The talented 7th Hour Band provided the music for an unforgettable evening. Ed Wiley (The Prime Smokehouse ) was our declared winner! From the food and fellowship to the excitement and laughter, it was truly a special night that showcased the best of our community.

Good food. Good music. Good vibes. Great memories. ❤️

June is Men’s Health Awareness Month!

The men pictured participated in the 'Ride 4 United Way' to support our community, while also investing in their health. Cycling boosts cardiovascular health, builds endurance, reduces stress, and supports overall wellness. At United Way, we believe healthy people build strong communities. Whether it’s biking, walking, scheduling a checkup, or making time for self-care, every healthy choice counts. This June, we celebrate the men improving their health while making a difference for others. Together, we can raise awareness and remind every man that his health matters.

At United Way, we believe everyone deserves access to the mental health support they need to thrive. Yet stigma, limited resources, and barriers to care continue to prevent many individuals and families in our community from getting help. That’s why United Way partners with local providers, schools, nonprofits, and community leaders to help create more compassionate and accessible support systems across our Twin-County region. From crisis response and trauma-informed resources to programs that encourage connection and emotional well-being, we are committed to helping our neighbors live healthier, stronger lives.

On this Throwback Thursday, we’re reflecting on our United Way Sunday Supper held at Rocky Mount Mills...a wonderful day filled with fellowship, food, fun, and community spirit. We were honored to have former WRAL meteorologist Greg Fishel serve as our emcee, with amazing musical selections by Luther Barnes and Martin County Ramblers. Guests enjoyed delicious food catered by Lou Reda's: an American Table alongside Chef Jus, and the excitement of our car giveaway sponsored by Davenport Autopark. Overall, it was truly a memorable day for family, friends, and the community to come together in support of United Way.
