Most volunteer first responders will tell you they don’t do what they do for any recognition, and we are no different. We do our job to the best of our ability and we don’t look for approval, but today we got some wisdom from our lifetime member when we stopped by to let him reconnect with our 1929 Seagrave, which he ran calls on.
Spike Pugh, who recently turned 100 years old, simply said “Boys, y’all are doing good. Keep it going.”
Needless to say, we all need recharging. Thank you Spike for your encouragement. We love you and will do our best to make you proud.

Thank you Cruisin’ Rocky Mount, Virginia for encouraging all first responders and for pouring into our community.

There’s an old saying that if the world didn’t give it to you, the world can’t take it away. At Rocky Mount Fire Department we hold to this truth closely. Tonight many of our families gathered to enjoy the scenery of Cruisin’ Rocky Mount, Virginia and to celebrate our faithful member John Hall’s birthday.
Thanks to the Adam’s, Keith Holley, and the Hall family for making sure we ate too much and had a great time.

Little early morning response to a fully involved vehicle fire with extension into the wood line. Fast response, quick knockdown, and most importantly, two occupants that were not injured, made for a routine night for your local volunteer fire department.
Of course, doing firefighter things doesn’t stop when the flames are gone. Cleaning and packing hose, along with refilling with water and cleaning our PPE is just as important.
For all of those wanting to do “firefighter things,” just remember the work after the call is a part of the job.
