Yesterday afternoon, Station 53 was dispatched as automatic aid alongside Stations 35 and 41 for a smoke condition in Franklin Fire District 2.

Upon arrival Chief 35 upgraded the assignment to a first alarm structure fire, confirming a working fire on division 1, with partial extension to division 2. A 2nd alarm was requested bringing additional tankers for water supply. Chief 53 assumed operations. Engine 53 arrived as the first due engine stretching an inch and three quarter hand-line to the alpha side commencing an aggressive interior attack. Tanker 35 arrived shortly thereafter to provide a temporary water supply to Engine 53. Additional crews from 1st and 2nd alarm companies stretched a back-up line into the structure, and a line to Charlie side to mitigate fire spread to division 2.

We encourage residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary, use caution around downed wires, and help keep fire hydrants near your property clear and accessible.

Stay safe and stay warm.

With the expected snow this weekend, please take a few extra minutes to shovel around fire hydrants near your home. Keeping them clear of snow and ice helps our crews respond quickly in an emergency. Your small act can make a big difference. Stay safe and thank you for helping protect our community!
