Arkansas Valley Farm/ Ranch/ Water Symposium & Trade Show An annual symposium and trade show held in Rocky Ford, Colorado. This is a not-to-be-missed event! The next symposium will be February 2, 2012.

The Arkansas Valley Farm/Ranch/Water Symposium and Trade Show is an opportunity to update area farmers, ranchers and business people on pertinent topics that are of interest to them, as well as introduce new and exciting topics. Academic and industry experts will share the latest research and innovation that contribute to the ongoing advancements of the agriculture industry. In addition, industry

representatives and innovators will showcase and discuss leading-edge advancements occurring across the country. Pre-registration is encouraged due to the capacity limits for the symposium.

Producers and beef industry related individuals, CSU and CCA will be hosting an informational webinar that will help you better understand and be prepared to engage in the climate change/Green House Gas discussion around livestock.

CSU’s own Dr. Kim Stackhouse-Lawson as well as other industry leaders will in a panel format discuss issues and answer questions on the Climate Change issues pointed at beef and livestock production in Colorado and the nation.

Western Colorado Cattle and Forage Grower Update

The Western Colorado Cattle and Forage Grower Update will occur on Tuesday, January 26th and Thursday, January 28th from 10 am until noon each day. The virtual event is free but requires preregistration (see flyer for registration details or link below). Program topics include rancher perspectives on predator management and outcome-based grazing as well as expert talks on leasing, marketing, wildfire, managing salt-affected soils and weather. Presenters include producers, Colorado State University, the Livestock Marketing Information Center, Bureau of Land Management, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Speakers will provide current information on a wide variety of relevant topics to the cattle and forage industry. On January 26th Drought Forecast, Leasing, Wildfire Mitigation, and the Cattle Market Outlook will be discussed. The January 28th presentations will include information on Managing Salt-Affected Soils, Outcome-Based Grazing, Predator Management, and Closing Comments.
