One of the things I have appreciated most during my time as councilman and mayor has been the relationships built with leaders from communities across Southeast Colorado. Through opportunities like Colorado Municipal League meetings, we get the chance to learn from one another, share ideas, and have honest conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities.
No two towns are exactly alike, but many of us are working through similar issues like housing, infrastructure, economic development, public safety, and making sure rural Colorado continues to have a voice in decisions that impact our future. Those conversations matter, and they remind me that progress often happens when communities work together rather than trying to solve problems alone.
I am grateful for the partnerships we continue building across our region and honored to serve on the CML Executive Board representing Colorado’s small towns. Thank you to the City of La Junta for hosting District 6 and to the local leaders who continue showing up and serving their communities every day.
Last night’s Colorado Municipal League District 6 meeting was held in La Junta on the Otero College campus. This event was a great reminder that strong communities are built through strong partnerships.
Leaders from across Southeast Colorado came together to share ideas, discuss challenges, and focus on opportunities that impact our communities both today and into the future. Every municipality has its own unique character and priorities. Meetings like this reinforce something important: we are stronger when we work together.
Regional collaboration is important. Whether the conversation is about infrastructure, economic development, public safety, housing, or legislative issues. Progress happens when communities support one another and stay engaged at the table together.
We are grateful for the opportunity to host our neighbors and to be part of the discussion. We appreciate the continued commitment that local leaders across District 6 show toward serving their communities and strengthening rural Colorado.
