🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, we remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11th, the families forever changed, and the brave first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, military members, and countless civilians who showed extraordinary courage and sacrifice that day.

As firefighters, we carry their memory with us every time we answer the call. Their bravery reminds us why we serve.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🚒

It’s OK not to be OK. 💚

Whether you wear turnout gear, a badge, a uniform, scrubs, military fatigues—or none of the above—mental health affects all of us.

Firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, law enforcement officers, healthcare workers, military members, veterans, and everyday members of our communities often carry burdens that others never see.

We respond to emergencies. We help strangers. We protect our communities and our country. We take care of our families. We try to be the person others can depend on.

But the people who help everyone else sometimes need help too.

Behind every uniform is a person. Behind every smile may be a struggle. And sometimes the person who appears the strongest is fighting a battle no one else knows about.

We all face demons. We all have difficult days. And none of us should have to fight those battles alone.

As we recognize National Mental Health Awareness Month, remember that asking for help is not weakness. Talking about what you’re going through can be one of the strongest things you ever do.

If you’re struggling, tell someone. Talk to a friend, family member, fellow first responder, coworker, battle buddy, veteran, pastor, counselor, or someone you trust.

If you don’t know where to turn, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.

And please—check on your people. Not just the ones who look like they’re struggling. Check on the strong ones. Check on the quiet ones. Check on the ones who are always checking on everyone else.

💚 You matter. Your life matters.
💚 Speak up. Reach out.
💚 Stay with us.
💚 You are not alone.

Behind the badge, behind the uniform, and behind the smile—we’re all human.

FROM STREET CLOTHES TO TURNOUTS !

Meet Jessica Nichole Powell

Her position is a firefighter.
Shes been doing this for 3 months.
She was asked why she does it, & her answer was to help people in need when no one else will. It has always been a dream of mine to become a firefighter. I always dreamt of riding in the big red truck since I was a little girl! I want to prove not only to myself, but to the community that its never to late to pursue you're dreams. Dream big and never give up!

Thank you for all your hard work and being part of the family🖤

🚒🔥 WEEKEND MODE: ACTIVATED! 🔥🚒

It’s the weekend, folks! Time to relax, fire up the grill, spend time with family, and make questionable decisions that hopefully don’t involve calling us. 😂

🔥 If you’re grilling, keep an eye on the grill.
🍻 If you’re drinking, don’t drive.
🎆 If something catches fire… maybe don’t try to “put it out with a garden hose” for 20 minutes first. 😂
🚗 And PLEASE buckle up!

Have fun, stay safe, and remember: we’d much rather see you out enjoying your weekend than seeing you pull up to the station with a story that starts with, “Y’all aren’t gonna believe this…” 😂🚒

❤️ From all of us at West Roane Fire Department, have an AWESOME weekend!

This truck doesn’t respond on its own.

Behind every apparatus is a team of dedicated volunteers who give their time, train hard, and answer the call when our community needs help.

We’re always looking for men and women who want to make a difference. No experience is necessary—we provide the training.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a volunteer firefighter, now is the perfect time to learn more. Send us a message and see how you can be part of the team. 🚒

From street clothes to turnouts, meet Emily Young!

Position: Firefighter & Secretary

Why do you want to be a firefighter: I want to give back to my community and be there in their times of need.
I also want to show little girls that they can dream big and become a firefighter too.

Glad to have you part of the family !!

🇺🇸🎆 Happy Independence Day from West Roane Fire Department! 🚒

The 4th of July is a time to celebrate with family, friends, and traditions, but it’s also one of the busiest times of the year for firefighters and emergency responders. While fireworks are exciting, they can quickly turn a celebration into a tragedy if they aren’t handled responsibly.

Every year, thousands of people are injured by fireworks, with burns to the hands, face, and eyes being the most common. Fireworks can also ignite dry grass, mulch, roofs, vehicles, and nearby structures in seconds. Even sparklers, which many people think are harmless, burn at temperatures of up to 2,000°F, hot enough to melt metal and cause severe burns.

If you choose to use fireworks, please remember:
* Never allow children to handle or light fireworks, including sparklers.
* Always have a bucket of water and a charged garden hose nearby.
* Light fireworks one at a time, then move away quickly.
* Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
* Never relight a firework that doesn’t ignite.
* Keep spectators at a safe distance.
* Never use fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
* Soak all used fireworks in water before placing them in the trash.
* Be mindful of pets, veterans, and neighbors who may be affected by loud explosions.

From everyone at West Roane Fire Department, we wish you a happy, safe, and memorable 4th of July. Let’s work together to keep our families, homes, and community safe while celebrating our nation’s freedom.

If you see a fire or experience an emergency, call 911 immediately. Have a safe and Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🚒
