Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, a day that forever changed our nation. Each year on September 11, Americans observe Patriot Day in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the terrorist attacks and in honor of the courage and sacrifice shown by so many.

As we reflect on the events of that day, we also extend our gratitude to our local first responders who continue to answer the call to serve and protect our community each day.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

TONIGHT- FM 549 traffic in both directions will shift to a new configuration in Rockwall between Haymaker Dr. and FM 1139 starting at 9pm tonight. This will remain through fall 2027 as part of an ongoing project. Drivers should use caution and plan for extra travel time as traffic adjusts. City of Rockwall, Texas - Municipal Government

At tonight’s City Council meeting, Mayor McCallum presented two proclamations recognizing important dates in our nation’s history and those who continue to serve our community.

Constitution Week is September 17–23. This year marks the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. Constitution Week provides an opportunity to recognize this historic document and the framework of government and rights it established.

The City also recognized American Legion Day, commemorating the anniversary of the organization’s congressional charter on September 16, 1919. For more than a century, American Legion members have served veterans, military families, youth and communities across the country.

Republic Waste Services will run one day delay all week.
