Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also remember the heroes and Gold Star families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day.

From all of us at the Rockwall Police Department, we thank those who gave everything for our country.

The NCT911 banquet was held on May 9th, and we’re proud to recognize some outstanding members of the Rockwall Police Department.

Nicholas Thompson was named Telecommunicator of the Year! Anthony Nguyen was nominated in the same category, and Erick Morris was nominated for Supervisor of the Year.

Nick earned this honor through his quick thinking and technical skill during a critical incident, where he utilized Text-to-9-1-1 to obtain and attach Ring camera footage in real time, providing responding officers with crucial information that contributed to a safe and successful arrest. His innovation, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence truly make a difference.

Please join me in congratulating Telecommunicator of the Year Nicholas Thompson!

Each year, several members of the Rockwall Police Department are selected to represent our agency at Police Week in Washington, D.C., through funds generously donated by our community. During this week, they attend events honoring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice—both those lost in the previous year and those remembered from years past.

Officer Tracy Gaines, who was serving as the School Resource Officer at Rockwall High School when he passed, was called home on August 3, 2020, after suffering complications related to COVID-19.

Today, we honor his sacrifice, along with the thousands of officers who gave their lives in service to protecting our communities and defending our homeland.
