GRANT-FUNDED VICTIM/WITNESS COORDINATOR (BILINGUAL)
STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE
The State’s Attorney’s Office is looking for a full-time bilingual Victim Witness Coordinator who is fluent in both Spanish and English and possesses oral and written skills in both languages. Victim/Witness Coordinators work closely with attorneys to arrange and maintain contact with victims and witnesses throughout a criminal case. They are responsible for victim notification in accordance with State Victims’ Rights laws and for maintaining statistics on services provided to victims.
This position will be funded from the date of hire until June 30, 2027, with the likelihood of renewal in the following fiscal year. Filling this position is contingent upon receiving funding from the grantor. This position is non-merit, with benefits.
Minimum Salary: $67,625
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate case activity to victims and witnesses
- Serve as liaison for attorneys
- Schedule and attend pre-trial conferences with attorneys and witnesses
- Coordinate scheduled trial appearance for witnesses
- Coordinate travel arrangements for victims/witnesses
- Accompany victims during testimony when needed
- Perform oral and written translation in Spanish
- Communicate with and make referrals to other agencies as necessary
- Use computer programs to track and monitor cases as well as generate notifications and court documents
- File court documents
- Maintain statistics
- Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Fluent in Spanish & English
- BA or BS degree, preferably in a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to be a team player
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Familiarity with criminal law practice considered
- Prior experience working with crime victims or in the human services field is helpful
