Congratulations to Kefa Cafe on 30 years serving Downtown Silver Spring! Montgomery County, MD - Executive Marc Elrich and DHCA joined a terrific community celebration today to mark the occasion and unveil the new façade upgrades. DHCA recently partnered with Kefa and MHP to fund exterior improvements through our Countywide Façade Improvement Program. DHCA Director Scott Bruton joined County Montgomery County, MD - Executive Marc Elrich, Yoke Management Partners, tenants, and other community partners today to celebrate the County's investment in preserving existing affordable apartments at Tilbury Garden in Bethesda and the Argyle in Rockville. As new housing is built in places like downtown Bethesda, DHCA is working to make sure families are not priced out and that existing residents can benefit from the economic opportunities created by new development.

This is the first time Montgomery County has used the updated "Right of First Refusal," or ROFR, law. The new ROFR law allows the County to partner with a developer who is committed to preserving affordable housing when an existing apartment building goes up for sale. Tenants at Tilbury Garden advocated for the County to use the ROFR in collaboration with Yoke Management Partners to help residents stay in their homes.

Last call! Submit your comments on Montgomery County's draft five-year plan for federal housing and community development funds.

Montgomery County’s DRAFT Consolidated Plan for County Fiscal Years 2027–2031 is available for public review and comment through May 15, 2026. The Five‑Year Consolidated Plan outlines proposed investments using federal Community Development Block Grant, HOME, and Emergency Solutions Grants funds to address local affordable housing and community development needs.

The Consolidated Plan provides a data-driven framework for setting community priorities and guiding the use of federal resources to support housing, neighborhood improvements, and services for residents. Community input is a vital part of this process.

All interested residents, organizations, and stakeholders are invited to submit written comments on the Plan. Comments will be accepted until 4:00 PM on May 15, 2026.
