My last newsletter message is out!

As we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I am incredibly thankful for the past seven years of service, the accomplishments we have achieved, and the amazing people who have supported me along the way.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided not to seek a third term on the County Council. Serving the county that I love and have proudly called home my entire life has truly been an honor. It has been both humbling and deeply meaningful to represent this community as an elected official, and I am profoundly grateful for the trust, support, and work achieved over the past two terms.

Great way to end the week joining the MCPS back-to-school tour with Superintendent Dr. Taylor, Board of Education members, and representatives from the Montgomery County Delegation. Visiting my alma mater, Walt Whitman High School, made the day even more special. Here’s to a successful and fulfilling school year for all our students, teachers, staff, and families!

P.S. which letterman jacket won? Team BCC or Team Whitman?

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Today reminds us to honor and recognize the achievements, contributions, and sacrifices of the workers who built our nation and continue to move it forward through their dedicated hard work and service. It is also the chance to pause, reflect, and celebrate community.

I was proud to participate in the annual Town of Kensington Labor Day Parade, a favorite tradition of my family. Thank you to the event organizers and participants, and to all our neighbors and friends for coming out today!

I applaud Montgomery County awarding $1.3 million in grants for youth mental health and substance use prevention programs through funds secured through settlement agreements with JUUL and Altria. In 2019 alongside then Councilmember Craig Rice, I recognized the public health crisis of youth va**ng, leading to our introduction of ZTA 19-06 and Bill 29-19 to prohibit v**e shops from being located within a half mile from any middle and high schools in Montgomery County. Today, the investment in community organizations reaffirms our commitment to combat youth va**ng, while promoting the health and well-being of all residents.

Peace Day is July 17, serving as a poignant reminder of Mattie Stepanek's enduring legacy of hope and peace. I had the profound privilege of meeting Mattie in a previous role at Children's Hospital. His presence was nothing short of inspiring, as he touched the hearts of everyone he encountered. Mattie's words of peace are more important than ever, emphasizing how our words and actions can make a significant difference that enables each of us to contribute positively every day towards a more compassionate world.

I’m deeply saddened by the news of the loss of Kensington resident and longtime family friend, Tim Strachan. T’s story and journey are truly remarkable. He overcame a devastating injury in high school to become an exemplary public servant, lawyer, community leader, sports broadcaster, and most importantly, a devoted father and husband to Leslie and their three beautiful children. Our family feels blessed to have known T, and we send our deepest love and prayers to his family. Rest in peace, my friend, you will be sorely missed, but truly never forgotten.

Tim Strachan, an inspiring figure who transcended a devastating spinal cord injury to become a successful attorney, revered sports broadcaster, and motivational speaker, has passed away at the age of […]
