The Montgomery County Council is the legislative branch of County Government. It has nine members, all elected at the same time by the voters of Montgomery County for four-year terms. The Council generally meets on Tuesdays beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Council meets other days in committees and frequently holds public hearings and forums in the evenings.

The Montgomery County Council held its 6th Annual African Heritage Month commemoration today, hosted by Council President Natali Fani-Gonzalez and the rest of the Council.

This year’s theme, “Building Montgomery County: African Voices Making a Difference” honors the rich history, culture, and contributions of African communities in Montgomery County.

The event featured a Council proclamation and a special video highlighting local African leaders making a difference:
