Emergency Manager Brent Miller was on hand to accept the proclamation and represent the important work being done to help keep our community prepared.

Within the Rockville City Police Department, the Emergency Manager plays a vital role in preparing for disasters and coordinating citywide emergency responses. This work helps ensure our community is ready to respond when emergencies happen.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT – SIGNAL OUTAGE 🚨

The Rockville City Police Department is advising motorists that the traffic signals at the intersections of West Gude Drive at Watkins Pond Boulevard and West Gude Drive at Gaither Road are currently out of service due to a property damage collision.

⚠️ Please use caution when traveling through these intersections, reduce your speed, and be alert for other vehicles and pedestrians.

Motorists should expect possible delays and consider using an alternate route if possible.

Please drive safely.

Department Encourages Community Members to Attend Free Narcan Training

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Rockville City Police Department officers administered multiple doses of Narcan to an unresponsive individual during a suspected overdose early Thursday morning, highlighting the potentially life-saving importance of having Narcan readily available.

On September 10, 2026, at approximately 6:03 a.m., RCPD officers responded to the 300 block of South Stonestreet Avenue for a report of an individual who was unresponsive on a bench.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult and, after assessing the individual, determined that the person may have suffered an overdose. Cpl. Thomas, Cpl. Jenkins, and Ofc. McKinnon immediately initiated life-saving measures and administered three doses of Narcan.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and transported the individual to an area hospital for further treatment. The individual is expected to survive.

The Rockville City Police Department recognizes the critical role Narcan can play in reversing the effects of an opioid overdose and encourages members of the community to become trained in its use. Having trained community members equipped with Narcan can provide an important opportunity to save a life during an overdose emergency.

As part of that effort, RCPD is hosting two free Narcan training sessions this month for community members who wish to learn how to recognize a suspected overdose, properly administer Narcan, and carry it in the event of an emergency.

FREE NARCAN TRAINING | OPEN TO EVERYONE

The Rockville City Police Department has partnered with Tree of Hope to provide FREE Narcan training to anyone interested in learning how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose.

This training is open to everyone — you do not need to be a Rockville resident to participate.

Training is limited to 50 participants and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Narcan (naloxone) can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Knowing how and when to administer Narcan can help save a life.

We encourage anyone interested to join us, learn how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, and be prepared to take action when it matters most.

Space is limited, so please arrive early!

Rockville Police Charge Man in Series of Thefts From Vehicles

The Rockville City Police Department has charged a 33-year-old Rockville man in connection with multiple thefts from vehicles in the city’s West End neighborhood.

Rockville police have been investigating multiple thefts from vehicles in the West End for several months, with incidents increasing significantly in July. During the investigation, detectives obtained surveillance video of a suspect. On Wednesday, Aug. 19, the department released an image of the suspect on social media and asked for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, members of RCPD’s Special Assignment Unit observed a person matching the suspect description in the 200 block of N. Washington Street. Officers detained the individual and identified him as Tyler Kennard Thomas, 33, of Rockville.

Thomas had an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction on a rogue and vagabond charge. Thomas was arrested on the open warrant while RCPD detectives continued their investigation into the thefts.

Detectives then connected Thomas to multiple thefts from vehicles in Rockville. On Thursday, Aug. 27, RCPD arrested Thomas on charges related to those incidents. Thomas was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he has been charged with six counts of rogue and vagabond, four counts of theft, and two counts of attempted theft.

The investigation into these incidents remains active.

Congratulations to Sergeant Lee and Corporal Crowe, recipients of the Rockville City Police Department's Officer of the Quarter for the Second Quarter of 2026!

Their outstanding leadership, initiative, and dedication led to the creation and successful launch of our inaugural Police Education Program. Built from the ground up, this eight-week program provided more than 20 community members with an inside look at modern policing, strengthening transparency, trust, and partnerships between our department and the community we proudly serve.

Through countless hours of planning, coordination, and personal commitment, Sgt. Lee and Cpl. Crowe developed a program that showcased every aspect of the Rockville City Police Department while creating meaningful connections with those we serve.
