Last night's storms hit hard, and if your basement, yard, or street took on water, you weren't the only one. Montgomery County was under flash flood warnings as heavy rain rolled through Rockville, and our Public Works crews are already out assessing stormwater systems around the city.

If your property was affected, take a few minutes to fill out our storm damage survey. It helps us track where flooding is hitting hardest and shapes the mitigation work we plan next. While you're there, you'll also find guidance on flood insurance (most homeowners and renters policies don't cover flood damage) and info on our Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, which reimburses residents up to $5,000 for eligible property improvements.

Starting January 1, 2027, Rockville landlords won't be able to use algorithmic software to set rent. The Mayor and Council voted unanimously this month to adopt the change, making Rockville the first city in Maryland to ban the practice. The updated code also caps the fees landlords can charge tenants and expands relocation assistance for anyone displaced by unsafe housing conditions.

Mayor Monique Ashton and Councilmember Marissa Valeri are holding a drop-in meeting at City Hall on Monday, July 27 from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., and residents can sign up for up to 10 minutes to talk through any topic in person or by phone. Appointments need to be requested by 10 a.m. the day of the meeting, so don't wait until the last minute. It's one of the easiest ways to get face time with your elected officials without waiting for a public hearing. Details and sign-up info are linked below.

It was a hot day, but it was so cool to be part of the unveiling of the Twinbrook Pool historical marker! It is a remarkable example of the DIY Twinbrook spirit that continues even now. Always grateful for the support of Mayor Ashton to capture all of our history.

I was proud to attend the ZeniMax protest this afternoon, at their headquarters in Rockville. I stand with the workers who were layed off, calling on Microsoft to do the right thing: reverse the layoffs and support your game developers.

I’m very proud that Rockville is the home of the U.S. Adaptive Open, a showcase of the best golfers that use various assistive devices and other adaptations in order to play. Technology to aid individuals with disabilities has advanced at a rapid pace, and it’s great to see the tech in action to play golf!
