A day of Arts and Science! I spent the morning at United Therapeutics learning more about their groundbreaking work on lung research. I spent the afternoon at the Walters Art Museum celebrating Brandon Donahue-Shipp who was a finalist in the Sondheim artist competition. AND the artist commissioned by BlackRock for an exciting public art project.

Our comms team did a great job capturing the OCEAN BOWL at Universities at Shady Grove. It’s a great program for kids to experience STEAM education in an exciting, fun-filled environment.

Nourish Now is an important organization in the food insecurity system. Their focus is food recovery from grocery stores and restaurants that reduces food waste and helps to feed our residents.

The Council just unanimously approved an 18-month moratorium on Data Centers in Montgomery County.

“After working with community and environmental groups on this issue for more than seven months, I am pleased with where the Council landed, we compromised to reach agreement on an 18-month moratorium and we have codified the definition of a data center. These are important milestones. It is clear that more time is needed to tackle this extremely complex issue.”

The Montgomery County Council approved two measures that will establish an 18-month moratorium and place certain limitations and safeguards on data center development.

Between my 4 years at the Council and 17 years as the head of the Chamber of Commerce, I’ve done a LOT of ribbon cuttings. The one today was extra special with the reopening of the Adventure Playground at the South Germantown Park. I spent a lot of hours at that park with my daughter and her friends when it first opened.
