On September 9th, I was happy to attend the Labor Appreciation Reception and subsequent bill signing ceremony for State Senator Jessica Ramos and I’s A10835A/S9577A alongside New York public employees, the unions that represent them, and my Assembly and Senate colleagues in Albany.

As the prime Assembly sponsor of this bill, I am proud to close a gap in the law and protect workers from bad actors who knowingly impersonate unions, their employees, or any union representatives. Unions play a vital role in protecting and advocating for public employees, and this legislation strengthens their ability to combat the spread of misinformation or interference with lawful union activity.

I applaud Goernor Hochul for signing this important legislation into law and am grateful to CSEA for bringing me this legislation to carry, the stakeholders, and all other unions for your advocacy and for standing up to ensure union workers can trust the information they receive.

It was an honor to join Liberty Hose Co. # 2, Captain Neckles, East Rockaway Fire Department,
Chief Matt Pignataro,
Village of East Rockaway Mayor Fox, Deputy Mayor Romano, colleagues in government, families and friends of the honorees, volunteer firefighters on Saturday afternoon to celebrate an incredible milestone of 50 years of service for Honorary Commissioner Frank Cerasoli and Honorary Chief Douglas D. Dake.

Frank and Douglas have been pillars of the East Rockaway Fire Department and steadfast champions of the community they have proudly served for five decades! Close friends since elementary school, they joined the department together as they graduated ERHS in 1976, beginning a remarkable journey of friendship, service, leadership, diligence and dedication that has spanned generations.

Throughout their 50 years of service, Frank and Douglas have answered countless late-night calls, mentored new members, led committees, taken on leadership responsibilities, and consistently gave their time, energy, and expertise to Liberty Hose Co. #2, the East Rockaway Fire Department to protect and serve the residents of East Rockaway and the greater community.

I extend my sincere congratulations and gratitude to Frank and Douglas for 50 years of exceptional service and steadfast commitment. Their sacrifice, work ethic, and remarkable contributions have left a lasting impact in the ERFD and on the East Rockaway community. I also want to express my appreciation for their wives and children who were always there to support them and the community.

Thank you to Ex-Chief Jack Felbinger and Ex-Captain Brian Boll for leading the Reception Committee and acting as the Masters of Ceremonies and all the members of Liberty Hose Co. #2 for hosting this special celebration. Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending a ribbon-cutting celebration of Tête-à-Tête Cafe, a new eatery to join the vibrant Village of Rockville Centre. The owner, Maria Rahmani, and her team designed an elegant place to meet friends and associates or visit solo to get a specialty coffee or grab a bite to eat from their enticing menu.

This locally owned cafe is creatively decorated with ‘The Little Prince’ theme and has placed meaningful quotes & images from this favorite story throughout the cafe to offer each customer a delightful experience. The soothing colors offer a place to relax and work under the stars!

It is wonderful to see new upscale cafes, like this, invest in our community to offer residents and commuters an inviting atmosphere with delicious beverages, sweets, snacks, sandwiches and more. Congratulations Maria, her family and team. Welcome to RVC! Wishing you great success and prosperity!

It was my honor to attend the runs4ronnie benefit to recognize Madeline Biegner Lazzara for more than a decade of incredible dedication to helping children and adults battling cancer.

Since 2014, Maddie and her family have brought the community together each year to raise critical funds for cancer treatment and research in honor of their brother Ronnie who passed away at age 51 from renal cancer.

They have raised more than $110,000 for organizations including Cohen Children’s Medical Center, The Jimmy Fund, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Their commitment to making a difference is truly inspiring.

A special thank you to Mike Davies for reaching out to ensure I had the opportunity to spotlight Maddie and her family’s remarkable work. It is people like Maddie who remind us of the power of community, compassion, and giving back.

Thank you, Maddie, and the entire Lazzara family, for your commitment to helping families in such a kindhearted way. Your altruism has made a profound impact for those struggling with cancer and I commend your extraordinary efforts.

It was an amazing turnout at Valley Stream Central High School on Saturday morning for the first Honoring 25 Years of Resilience 5K Run/Walk benefitting Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

I commend Stacey Cotten-Victor and Vincent Sarro, teachers at Valley Stream Central High School for hosting this run and providing students with an engaging way to connect with September 11, 2001.

This truly was a meaningful way for students, families, the community, and school district, to join together to remember the lives lost and honor those who risked their lives to save others on that fateful day.

It was wonderful to participate in the walk alongside my colleagues in government Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages & Legislator Cynthia Nuñez and the community.

Thank you to VSCHS PTA, student volunteers, Board of Education Trustees Markus Wilson, Sarah Sabatino & all participating trustees and faculty, Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department, Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce, Valley Stream Kiwanis Club and all who worked together to make this such a successful day!

It was really heartwarming to feel the kindness and compassion that this event evoked.

I look forward to participating again next year!

It’s always special to end the evening of September 11 Rembrances at the Incorporated Village of Malverne’s Annual 9/11 Candlelight Memorial Service.

This year we had the opportunity to hear fond memories of loved ones that passed from family members. Each year victims of 9/11 are announced and their loved ones are given roses to honor them.

It was beautiful to hear the National Anthem as well as God Bless America sung by Christine Solimeno, and Amazing Grace sung by Dorothy Shorter and the prayers led by Father James Stachacz and Father Joseph Ciccarello.

Thank you to Mayor Sullivan, the Village Board of Trustees & Village Admin. for continuing to recognize this tragic day and the memories of those lost.

A heartfelt evening of remembrance in Incorporated Village of Freeport yesterday, as the community gathered to honor the lives and legacies of those taken from us on 9/11.

The ceremony was filled with moments of reflection, including moving performances of the National Anthem, Amazing Grace, and God Bless the USA by FDNY’s Joe Higgins. Reverend Delaney and Reverend Malik offered prayers, followed by the reading of the names by Christine Elenger.

As each name was read, members of the crowd joined together, making the tribute deeply personal and reminding us that behind every name was a life, a family, and a story that continues to matter.

A solemn moment of silence brought the ceremony to a close. We carry their memory with us, today and always. Freeport Fire Department

It is always a moving 9/11 memorial ceremony in Rockville Centre and always close to my heart as I personally knew many of the community members that were lost and through the years have watched their children grow up and their spouses live on without them.

Commemorating the 25th Anniversary, resulted in an even bigger turnout to remember the tragic loss of life that we faced in our community and the courageous actions of our first responders. Way too many families in the Village of Rockville Centre experienced grave loss and sadly continue to lose more heroes to 9/11 related diseases.

The ceremony was filled with participation from Rockville Centre Fire Department, Rockville Centre Police, Scout Troops 214 & 40, as well as American Legion Post 303 Rockville Centre, Father Duffy, students from Rockville Centre School District, and the Village Board. Two residents spoke about the unimaginable loss that their families experienced and as always the victims names were read and their families were recognized.

Thank you to Mayor Murray and the 9/11 committee for continuing to recognize this fateful day each year.

God Bless all the families that continue to mourn the devastating loss of loved ones 25 years later or those that have experienced more recent losses related to service on 9/11 and in the aftermath.
