We had a marvelous turn out for Lorna Gibson's introduction to her new book "Birds Up Close: An Engineer Explores Their Hidden Wonders." It was a great reminder that -- while humans have been studying birds for as long as there have been humans and birds together on the planet -- there are so many NEW things that we are only now being able to learn about them, thanks to recent advancements in scientific technology. If you missed the talk but would like to check out the book, the library has a copy in circulation. Barnswallow Books also has copies in stock for purchase. Lorna's book is definitely one to spend time with!

We had a lovely time today exploring the "Interpretive Trail" at Merryspring Nature Center with Programs Director John Fromer. The weather was perfect; the bugs were minimal; and John was kind enough to offer a tour of the flower garden after we finished our hike. Merryspring has added a slew of new features to help visitors navigate and learn more about the flora, fauna, and history of the preserve. If you haven't been, or if you haven't been for a while, it's a great time to discover (or rediscover) one of most impressive hidden gems of the Camden/Rockport area.

LEVEL UP YOUR BIRD NERDINESS!!! Join us on Tuesday, June 23, at 1 p.m. to welcome MIT Professor Lorna Gibson for a presentation about her new book: "Birds Up Close: An Engineer Explores Their Hidden Wonders." Lorna gets closer than ever before (like electron microscope close) to examining the miraculous ways that birds navigate life. Spread the word if you like to bird. Tell your birder friends and neighbors -- this talk is not to be missed!!! Copies of the book will also be available for purchase at the event. As always, classy snacks will be provided.
