Over the past two months, we had the opportunity to welcome a local high school senior into our department as part of a 75-hour internship experience. Today, we are excited to recognize the successful completion of those hours and thank him for the time, effort, and enthusiasm he brought each day.
Throughout the internship, he gained firsthand exposure to many aspects of police work and learned about the responsibilities that come with serving the community. During his time with us, he had opportunities to observe and learn about:
•Daily patrol operations and officer responsibilities
•Dispatch and call response procedures
•Report writing and documentation
•Maine criminal and traffic law basics
•Community engagement and public service
•Vehicle equipment and officer readiness
•Investigative processes and evidence handling
•Professionalism, ethics, and teamwork in law enforcement
This internship provided a behind-the-scenes look at the work that happens every day to keep our community safe and highlighted the dedication and commitment required in this profession.
We are proud to say this was our department’s first student internship program—and we hope it is the first of many opportunities to connect students with careers in public service.
Congratulations on completing this milestone, and we wish you the best as you go to college to continue with Criminal Justice. Thank you for spending part of your senior year with us!
