Important message from the Rockport Board of Health:

Front Beach is closed to swimming due to bacteria counts that exceed acceptable levels.
Swimming closures will remain in place until further notice/once testing determines that levels fall within acceptable limits. All other beaches remain open at this time.

Notice to Residents:
The Department of Public Works will be pressure cleaning and inspecting the sewer mains throughout town. This work will be ongoing Monday through Friday until mid-June from 7 am to 3 pm.
During the pressure cleaning process, you may hear gurgling or other noises from the drain pipes, but it will not impact your ability to use water or sewer. If you notice a smell from your drains, please flush your toilets and run the water in your sinks to reset your traps.
Please keep your toilet seats down to minimize disruption.

ATTN: Town of Rockport Flushing Schedule adjustment due to Tuesday nights water main break is as follows:
Pigeon Cove Area - flushing originally scheduled for Wednesay night has been moved to Thursday night, May 7th.
Pigeon Cove near Halibut Point - (Daytime Only) on Thursdayj May 7th has been moved to Friday, May 8th (Daytime Only).
If any areas remain, they will be completed on Monday, May 11 during the day. (This is a clean up of any remaining areas and dead ends).

WATER BREAK - LUCIA LANE

DPW is actively addressing a water main break on Lucia Lane. Those on and in the immediate vicinity of Lucia Lane will experience no water or low pressure during the repair. The repair is expected to take 3-4 hours. Water in the area may be discolored during and after the repair. If you experience discolored water, run the cold tap until it clears; check before doing laundry.

A Message from the Board of Health:

The Rockport Board of Health is considering the implementation of a regulation which will ban within the Town of Rockport the sale of any nicotine-containing products to individuals born on or after 1/1/2006. Other municipalities across the Commonwealth have enacted such regulations, and there is currently state-level legislation pending (Senate bill 1568) to adopt this type of measure across Massachusetts.

Please come provide community feedback about this potential regulation. Three public forums have been scheduled:

Granite St/Railroad Ave State Paving Project

The Town has been informed that the State paving project on Granite St & Railroad Ave will start paving operations this evening (4/28) and go through May 2. Work times will be overnight approximately 8PM-5AM. These dates are weather dependent; weather issues will delay the work schedule.

The Town does not have information on traffic diversions or direction; this decision is made the day of the work by the State and Contractor. Please follow the instructions of the Police details.

Note: This is a state-managed and state-funded project. The Town does not have any further information. Please do not call the DPW Office or Police Station for further information.
