Rockport MA Conservation Commission The Rockport Conservation Commission helps to identify key parcels that should be protected, works for acquisition by the Town or other forms of protection

The Rockport Conservation Commission ("RCC") is committed to the preservation of the environmental integrity of the Town. The RCC helps to identify key parcels that should be protected, works for acquisition by the Town or other forms of protection, and manages local lands dedicated to conservation and passive recreation. The RCC also helps organize Rockport’s Annual Earth Day and COASTSWEEP Beach

Clean-Up among other activities and helps in other efforts to enhance the local environment. The RCC is responsible for administering the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and its associated Rules & Regulations. In addition, it administers its own Rockport Wetlands Protection By-law along with its Rules & Regulations specifically geared towards protecting wetlands in Rockport.

COVID-19 Update from the Board of Health:

There are currently 90 active cases in Town, which represents a sizeable increase over the last several weeks. A detailed breakdown on case information is located on the Town website, rockportma.gov, at the COVID-19 Updates alert tab. Please consider any precautions that you can take including getting all the COVID vaccinations for which you are eligible, testing if you have symptoms, staying home when you are sick, and washing your hands regularly. Please be aware that the Rockport Board of Health strongly encourages you to wear a mask in public indoor spaces.

COVID Test kits are available from the Board of Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall during business hours. All residents are eligible. Thank you and be well.

COVID-19 Update 5/3/22:

There are currently 55 active cases in Town, which represents an increase over the last several weeks. A detailed breakdown on case information is located on the Town website, rockportma.gov, at the COVID-19 Updates alert tab. Please consider any precautions that you can take including getting vaccinated and boosted, testing if you have symptoms, staying home when you are sick, wearing a mask in indoor settings, and washing your hands regularly.

COVID Test kits are available from the Board of Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall during business hours. All residents are eligible. Kits will also be distributed at the conclusion of the Special Town Meeting on Monday, May 16.

There are currently 5 new cases in Town since the last report on March 14. A detailed breakdown on case information, including case count totals, age breakdowns, and vaccination rates is located on the Town website, rockportma.gov, at the COVID-19 Updates alert tab.

The next Town COVID vaccine clinic will take place Saturday, April 9 at the Community House and include pediatric doses as well as adult doses. Please visit the Town website for availability and future clinic dates.

The next Board of Health meeting is Wednesday, March 30 at 5:30 via Zoom. Access information is available on the Town website under the Posted Meetings tab.

COVID-19 Update - 2/28/22:

There are currently only 4 new cases in Town since the last report on the 14th. A detailed breakdown on case information, including case count totals and age breakdowns, as well as the latest restrictions and advisories, is located on the Town website, rockportma.gov, at the COVID-19 Updates alert tab.

The next Town COVID vaccine clinic will take place on March 19 from 9-12 at the Community House and include pediatric doses as well as adult doses. Please visit the Town website for availability and future clinic dates. Everyone eligible to get their vaccine and booster is encouraged to do so.

The Town has free COVID-19 Test Kits available to residents. You can pick them up at the Board of Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall during business hours while supplies last. If you received kits at the February 13th distribution event, you are eligible to receive more kits. We will be looking to hold additional distribution events in the near future while supplies last.

OVERNIGHT PARKING BAN -

Today is Thursday, February 24, 2022. An overnight parking ban will go into effect for the next two nights starting tonight at midnight and will end Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 6AM. During the winter parking ban there is no overnight parking allowed on any Town streets or roads between the hours of 12AM and 6AM. There is also no parking in the center spaces of the resident lot on Broadway. A reminder: per Town By-Law, please clear your sidewalks of snow immediately following the storm.

Weekly COVID-19 Update:

There are currently only 4 new cases in Town since the last report. A detailed breakdown on case information, including case count totals and age breakdowns, as well as the latest restrictions and advisories, is located on the Town website, rockportma.gov, at the COVID-19 Updates alert tab.

The mask order has been rescinded. However, masks are still strongly encouraged when indoors. While the majority of eligible residents have had at least one dose of the COVID vaccine, approx. 25% need their second dose and approx. 50% need their booster. The next Town COVID vaccine clinic will take place on February 26 from 9-12 at the Community House and will include pediatric doses as well as adult doses. It should be noted that 50% of new cases in the last two weeks are in those less than 20 years old. Please visit the Town website for availability and future clinic dates.

The Town conducted a very successful COVID test distribution event Sunday, despite the snow. Nearly 1000 kits were distributed. There are still test kits available. You can visit the Board of Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall during business hours to pick up test kits while supplies last. We will be looking to hold additional events in the near future while supplies last.

1/16/22 Important Message Regarding T Wharf Parking and Anticipated Storm:

Due to the expected coastal flooding from the storm that will impact our area tonight and tomorrow, parking on T Wharf is prohibited starting at 6PM tonight until further notice. Please ensure your vehicle is removed by that time. Those vehicles remaining will be subject to towing at the owner's expense. Those with property in coastal areas subject to flooding should ensure that all precautions are taken. There is also a possibility for power outages during the storm from the anticipated high winds; please ensure that your mobile devices are charged. Please call 911 in case of an emergency.
