These powerful words reflect the impact of World Relief Sacramento’s Afghan Women’s ESL Literacy and Integration Groups Program, recently recognized as a 2026 Successful Practices Honoree by the Library of Congress Literacy Awards Program.

Through an innovative virtual model, the program brings literacy and integration classes directly into participants’ homes, helping Afghan women build foundational skills, confidence, and greater independence in a supportive learning environment.

We are honored by this recognition from The Library of Congress and grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside these women as they build new skills, strengthen their confidence, and thrive in their communities.

We are so excited to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Auburn Library! The Placer County Friends of the Library were front and center in advocating for the $4.9 million investment in our library system when it came for a vote by our Supervisors. Thank you to our members and those in the community who answered the call for support when we put it out. This grand re-opening would not be possible without you.

The Friends join our community in mourning the loss of Peter Hill. He was a strong advocate for literacy and our Rocklin Library, and remained a member of our organization to this day. Rest in love, friend. 🩷📚

The City of Rocklin joins our community in mourning the passing of former Mayor and longtime City Councilmember Peter Hill.

Peter dedicated nearly 30 years to serving on the Rocklin City Council, including six terms as Mayor, helping guide the City through decades of significant growth and change. His commitment to Rocklin and its future left a lasting impact on the community we know today.

His legacy can be seen throughout Rocklin, including at Peter Hill Heritage Park in the heart of the City’s historic downtown—a place that carries his name and recognizes his many years of service to the community.

We extend our deepest condolences to Peter’s family, friends and all those who knew him.

Once you've registered on Beanstack, head to your local branch to pick up your Dig-Site Trading Pouch to keep your stones safe until you're ready to redeem them at the Library Trading Post.
